What questions should a customer ask to hire the right service professional?

Before any business hires a bookkeeper they should ask if the bookkeeper has professional indemnity insurance.  Whether or not they have dealt with customers in a similar field so they have a better understanding of how your business operates.

What makes you the most reliable and trustworthy person for the job?

As a member of the Australian Bookkeepers Network we must uphold a strict code of conduct that prevents giving out certain information without consent and we must be fit and proper people (no criminal convictions and correctly trained) to be members.

At Open Bookkeeping we think all financial issues are important, we take the time to discuss these with you in a manner that you understand, we also can provide reports in different formats so that anyone can understand. We try and make the understanding as simple as possible!

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

Accepted Answer

Before we quote a customer we must determine if they are late in any of their BAS or IAS commitments and whether or not they have an agreement with the ATO to repay any debts.  We also like to know if we are going to need to amend any information such as their chart of accounts or tax coding (we can tell you this) as these can take a while.

Customers can save money before we start work by having all their relevant bank statements available, having all the appropriate receipts located, and having any paperwork in regards to loans or car loan including the interest rate available,  These things make the job quicker and easier, and therefore save you money.

We have a number of ways we can charge for this service from a per hourly charge or a per month pricing plan can be discussed.  We also travel free to collect paperwork within 25km of 3810.

Open Bookkeeping specialize in the 'Xero' program for completing clients books however I also use MYOB, and Reckon and specializes in BAS and payroll completion for clients in any industry.
