How did you decide to get into your line of work?

I have personally been involved with dogs since a very young age, and thought what a great way to make a living out of something I love to do that doesn't feel like work!

Do you have a favourite customer story you would like to share?

I was asked to groom a Siberian Husky whom had not been groomed for a very long time. This particular dog's coat was in poor condition with many tufts of dead and dirty hair dying to be brushed out. After a long hour of brushing, then a bath and blow dry this dog had transformed into a being a beautiful pure white siberian husky, almost unrecognisable from before I started. Needless to say the dog and the owner were delighted. Incredibly satisfying!

What do you like most about your job?

I love meeting all the wonderful dogs out there and their owners. I love how a dog responds post grooming, you can tell they instantly feel better, it's almost like they have a smile on their face.

Common questions are: Do you trim nails and how often should it be done?, how often should I wash my dog?, Do I have different shampoos for differing skin conditions?

My experience, rapport and affinity with dogs. The fact that I genuinely love what I do and care about every dog I work with. I am punctual, thorough and consistent in the quality of care given.

I (Ally), have personally been involved with dogs since a very young age. From continued dog ownership as a youngster, to my experience in dog minding, walking and care for a lot of my adulthood. I have had training experience with an animal behaviourist in areas such as dog handling, behaviour assessment, coat clipping and general grooming. I simply love my work! I have great affinity for animals, & dogs in particular..And more importantly, they respond well to me! Additionally; I am up to $15 cheaper than local competitors.

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

Firstly, I need to have access to a tap & electricity. We also need information on the dog(s) we'll be doing: 1.Size of dog  2.Breed of dog  3.Exactly what service is required. 4.Are there any temperament issues i need to be aware of.  5..Is there ANY other information the customer thinks i might need before commencing

How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips

If a dog is heavily matted prior to grooming and clipping, the cost involved would be less if the owner has the time and patience to brush out/remove the matted hair. Regular brushing of your dog's coat to remove dead hair is essential. Your dog will love you for it, and it's a wonderful bonding experience.

If you make a booking with Woof Wash and require a Wash and Groom for more than one dog at the same location, i.e, a multiple dog owner, the full price applies to the first wash and groom, and subsequent dogs receive a discount of $10.

Simple! I am up to $15 cheaper than local competitors already servicing the Shoalhaven area.

How do you normally charge for your service?

Bathing pkg. is $35 to $45 per visit depending on size & grooming requirements of each dog. Extras, such as clipping, are set around individual dogs requirements

What experience, skills, qualifications or training do you have to make you the right person for the job?

I have trained and worked alongside an Animal Behaviourist learning all aspects of animal care, from general behaviour assessment, dog handling, general grooming, and coat clipping.
