I contracted George to install floating laminate floors on my flat. The installation itself was well done however we did have some issues with communication e.g the work was done in 2 days but I was only asked to purchase more boards mid the second day which you would expect that to be communicated by the end of the first day. This meant we had to scramble in the middle of a working day to buy and pick up the materials so he could finish the work. The other issue was when the work was finished he left all the rubbish and dirt behind. I would had expected that at least he would have removed all the packaging from the boards and cleaned the saw dust from the unit. In response to the response below. I originally purchased 42m2 of flooring to cover 33m2. At the end of the first day there was around 3m2 left to be covered in the hallway and still 2 packages of flooring (around 6m2) It should have been enough otherwise a professional would have immediately had flagged it needed more material. The reason why I had to purchase extra was there was clearly some wastage of the 2 packs left while cutting them to fit the bedroom doors. I appreciate the work can be fiddly at times but this it the type of knowledge you expect from the professionals. About the cleaning up after the job was done is just about showcasing your own work. repliedWestern Renovation Project06 Jun 2017
Thanks for the review Janet. I'm glad you are happy with the floor installation. I think its important to note here that you hired us to install the floor after you, yourself, measured the area and purchased the floorboards. You clearly indicated that you did correct measurements and bought extra to allow for cutting when I asked, so I am surprised to read your comments as they imply we didn't measure accurately, which isn't the case. Secondly, you asked us to quote for installation and the removal of your carpet and underlay (you later sold the carpet and I reduced the cost by $100). You never asked us to remove the boxes the floorboards came in, not before, and also not whilst we were there for 2 days, so again, I am not sure why you make a point of mentioning it here now. If you asked, it would't have been an issue, despite not quoting for the additional rubbish removal costs. Finally, we take on board your comments about cleaning up more thoroughly. From our side, we let you know that we have another appointment in the afternoon and that we would be finished at 2pm. If the floor boards were on site the job would have been done on time. Delayed until after 5, and another customer had to wait because of that, and not to mention that we also didn't get paid for that extra time. We appreciate that you trusted us to work on your premises without your supervision and could carry on at work but we cannot be held responsible for you having to leave work and travel quite some distance to buy more materials which you told us you are supplying.
