I was originally a police officer which lead to routine contact with lawyers. This lead to me studying law whilst still a police officer. I didn't decide to pursue a career as a lawyer until sometime after I had completed my studies..

I believe clients should prepare questions for the professional they speak with to satisfy themselves the professional does have the right skill set to help them achieve their goals, they fully understand what their fees will be, how long it will take to achieve their goals and that they can form the right relationship with that professional.

I find that new clients who are not referred to me often undertake their own research and so know something about me and my practice before our initial conversation. Otherwise, potential clients seek confirmation that I can assist them, how quickly I can start work and what it will cost.

1. If you believe you need to speak with a lawyer then don't delay as you could lose your right to pursue an action or claim. Speak to a qualified lawyer not to friends, family & acquaintances. 2. Make notes about the incident or events which have lead you to consider speaking with a lawyer including what is your preferred outcome. 3. Collate as many records which may be relevant such as emails, letters, etc. as you can before you speak with a lawyer.

I do not have a pre-ordained and rigid fee structure. Depending upon the client, the services I am to provide and the outcome the client is seeking to achieve, I can offer individual or blended costs solutions including: - Capped fees; - Fixed fees; - Payment plans; - Deferred fees; - Speculative fee agreements (commonly known as no win / no fee).
