Yes and yes.There is no point doing the job if it is no good. We go back for cups of tea and biscuits, not to fix things.

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

All of my extended family are in trades (they laughed at Xmas when i said I was trying OneFlare) so I had a fair idea of what I wanted to do when I left school. I get out and about, with varied work, you make new friends and I love sharing my knowledge and experience even when it comes to gardening.

The lady was a referral, yet she insisted on the cheapest flick mixer to suit her budget and outlook. Three years later she called to say there was a leak. The fitting looked shiny on the outside but leaky on the inside. I fitted a quality mixer with a 10 year guarantee, she gave me a nod as I left.

Helping people. How can a family with young children operate without hot water? Transforming a dump of a bathroom into a haven of bliss; Seeing smiles on people's faces and a sense of relief and victory as the job is completed, or beaming faces as we tell them do it our way and save $2,000.

Prove your capability to do the job, even simple tasks. Offer examples of how you have handled similar jobs in the past? How have you offered to save customers money without compromising the quality of the job; refer me to some recent customers in your area; show me photos of your work.

Customers often ask how long will the job take (answer depends on the task, we add a variance for larger jobs), longer lasting fittings (cheaper ones can fail within 2-3 years, adding to repeat installation costs), when can you come? "We are on our way".

Always inspect a job - it is fairer to both parties, although receiving a photo via a mobile phone can help clear things up quickly, especially when it is urgent, or not so urgent.

Know what  they want; have the funds allocated beforehand as getting  grounded halfway through a job makes life harder for everyone and ultimately adds to costs; letting the plumber arrange, buy and pickup fittings as people who get their own often do not know what they are doing.

Price is one part of the package. We have long term customers that we are proud to support. Our pricing is within industry benchmarks, but usually less. You learn a few tricks over time which can save everyone time and money.

Each job is different and is charged as a fixed price or hourly rate. It depends on the fittings used as well.
