My business is insured. Why wouldn't you be? Working with tools and gardens stones can be a menace. They could flick up and crack a window (touch wood I haven't had this happen to me). Who is going to replace it? It is important that I protect my business along with your belongings.

Why is a gardener so expensive? A gardener is a trades person like any other. We have over heads to run like any other business, such as a vehicle to get to job A and job B. We run insurance and pay taxes (yes I write a receipt for every job. If I don't I undervalue my own business if I wish to sell.) Our tools need maintaining, my mower is serviced each month, I have a back up mower as well. All the tools need to stay sharp and require consumables. It all costs money. The biggest money grabber of a large job can be green waste. Depending on the closest centre the cost can be as high as $120 for a 7x4 trailer load with cage. 3 loads of this in a days work becomes expensive. Yes we can find cheaper dumps that are legal but they may be an hours drive away and you will be paying for the time to get there, dump the green waste and return to the job.

What makes you the most reliable and trustworthy person for the job?

When you accept a booking quote I will be there. My name Time Busters and my philosophy is that we cannot get time back once it has passed. So my bookings are firm. If you book a quote in with me I will have my diary on hand and only the greatest emergencies (family and illness) will have me not make your appointment. Even with a broken down car I took a taxi to a job and called in back up for another company tools. Why let the customer down. If I can make it work and still make some money from the job I will be there.

Why should a customer hire you over another service provider?

I enjoy what I do mowing and maintaining a garden. I like to please the customer and wow them with results in transforming an untidy area into one that can be maintained. With access to a horticulturalist we can maximise a healthy lawn and minimise those nasty weeds. Garden beds get overgrown with weeds. With a weeding program we can knock these down over time and let the plants grow strong and healthy.

How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips

Research and know clearly what it is they want. Is it a big job or small? We are a professional organisation and changing your mind over something may cost extra money later on. Do you want an instant result or something that will grow over time? An instant result will bring a quicker smile for a client but it will also cost more to the hip pocket. Do you want mature plants or small ones? Do want to seed a lawn or have instant turf? How often do you need to cut a lawn? Typically in Adelaide a lawn cut is 3 weeks and needs not to be expensive with lawns mowed from $20 without a catcher through to larger lawns of $70 or $80. But is your lawn really lawn or a bunch of weeds? If it has many weeds through it we can give the best advice to improve the quality of the lawn and the structure of the soil. We are not just a mowing service.

What makes your pricing competitive?

My pricing is very competitive. We can be 20% cheaper than a franchise owner. We aim to please the hip pocket of the client while not cutting corners on the quality of the job. In some cases we can be 40% cheaper to use than another competitor and still come in on budget.

How do you normally charge for your service?

Accepted Answer

I can take cash on the day from a client. Large jobs may require a deposit. If you have a small job we can use your own greens bin but for large jobs a trailer load to the dump.
