How did you decide to get into your line of work?

By trade I'm a Tool Maker and CAD CAM designer. But have been always passionate about drawing and painting. I still love to do Portraits and Paintings.  With the exposure of Computers and love of art, I ended up into this business.

Do you have a favourite customer story you would like to share?

Did some banner job a few years ago with vinyl stickers and due to some defective vinyl material the stickers started to peel off after a few days. Did the job again.  Customer was so satisfied that he mentioned it to someone else which happened to be my friend. It was certainly a good feeling when my friend appriciated me for the job well done.

What do you like most about your job?

I'm passionate about art, that's what brought me into this business. I may go one step further to achive the outcome. It may not pay for those extra hours, but gives me the satisfaction that i did to my level best.

What questions should a customer ask to hire the right service professional?

Customer should ask if there are any referances or sample of jobs they can see.  For printing jobs, customers may ask to show some sample of the previous work. For signage, customers may ask the locations where the jobs have been done.

What questions do customers commonly ask and how would you answer them?

Customers usually ask about the quality and price and my honest answer is "you get what you pay for". I'm still able to offer better prices because of low overheads.

I try not to take too many jobs, if I've a load of work. I am honest in telling the customer if there is a possiblity of delays due to legitimate reasons or the circumstances beyound my control.

I believe in quality than quanitity. Work to customers satisfaction, on time and on budget. My prices are very competitve than the big suppliers because I've less business overheads.

Typically customers should specify: - Specifications, like Size, Quantity, paper type (for printing), Finish - Site location and access to the site - Any council requirements - Time frame - Budget

Accepted Answer

To save money and expect better service, please consider things like: - Have clear understanding of the job to be done - If supplying artwork, it should be print ready with no changes required. - Please specify if any speacial conditions are to be considered for mounting etc.

How do you normally charge for your service?

Accepted Answer

Charges vary on the job basis because all jobs are different. For certain jobs like bulk printing, cards, flyers etc. the prices can be quoted quickely. If customer can supply exact requirements like size and type of signage, it is easy to quote correct price without looking the site. Otherwise it may need more discussions on the requirements.

Qualified Mechanical Engneer, Tool Maker and CAD/CAM programmer. Have a good understanding of modern technology in manufacuring, IT and Graphic Design. Been into Signage, Printing and Graphic Design business for almost 9 yrs and have many satisfied customers.
