Are you an insured business and do you guarantee your work?

Accepted Answer

All work undertaken is guaranteed for 3 months and all hardware has 12 months to 10 years manufacturing warranty. Full Indemnity Insurance is in place, covering the customer for damage to property or personal injury.

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

Accepted Answer

I like to be kept on my toes.  Sometimes I can get to a job where it should be very basic and quick, but ends up taking more time and skill, and vice versa.  No job is ever the same.  That's what I love about being a locksmith.  Thankfully that is what my Mum saw and convinced me to apply for an apprenticeship.

Do you have a favourite customer story you would like to share?

We had a customer whose back door lock had jammed shut and wouldn't open (even though the key turned).  We replaced the lock and got the door working.  They hadn't used this door in over a year.  That was two days before Australia Day.  Just in time for an Aussie BBQ

What do you like most about your job?

The customers.  I get a lot of happy surprised faces when people realise that the female they booked the job with over the phone is actually the locksmith that at their house.  The best thing that a customer can do is offer a cold drink of water on a really hot day

What questions should a customer ask to hire the right service professional?

When is the locksmith available to come out? What brand of locks do they use? Sometimes getting a cheaper price means cheaper locks and less security.  Does the locksmith company and it's employees have security licences?

What questions do customers commonly ask and how would you answer them?

If a customers keys have been stolen, do we change the whole lock or change the internal parts?  We change the internal parts.  This is a cheaper and more efficient way to change keys when they have been lost or stolen

What makes you the most reliable and trustworthy person for the job?

We rely on our reputation, so we do everything we can to protect it, being there when we say we will is a big part of this. All of our Locksmiths hold security licenses and have been vetted by Federal Police.

We are an independent mobile Locksmith, who never forgets that you the customer have a choice. We pride ourselves on offering affordable Locksmiths services while still providing, quality, reliability and excellent customer service.

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

To enable an accurate quotation it is important to inform the Locksmith how many locks are affected. How the lock is affected e.g. Does the key turn but does not unlock and any other information.

How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips

Accepted Answer

If a key won't turn in a locks, make sure you try all keys you have for that door.  It may be that the keys are worn.  Spray Inox in your locks every 3 months.  This will help your locks last longer.  Keep your door tracks clean of dirt (for sliding doors).  Doors can jam shut because the dirt is pushing on the door and the latch won't unlock due to the force

We offer a 10% discount for our Senior Citizens. We also offer 'specials' throughout the year. We are also open to 'price matching' subject to sight of quotation.

We work hard to keep our expenses minimal, this means we can keep our prices low. As a mobile Locksmith our running costs are smaller than a large National company.

How do you normally charge for your service?

Accepted Answer

We charge a Service Callout Fee for each job undertaken, this is a flat fee which only changes if the call out is outside of normal working hours. We charge for Labour, broken into 15 minute slots. We charge for hardware used. Emergency callouts for Gain Entry to your premises are on a flat price basis, with no hidden extras. All costs are subject to GST

Our priority at Sypher Locksmiths is the customer and their security.  We understand your time is valuable, so we will turn up on time, every time.  We offer a call service where we call you 30 minutes before we are due if requested

Full Locksmith qualifications gained after a 4 year apprenticeship. Many years experience working for large National Locksmiths.  Member of the Master Locksmiths Association. Fully Security Licence held
