Are you an insured business and do you guarantee your work?

I am not insured as such. Most of my work is personal and any business work I do is somewhat simplified. I normally guarantee that if there is a problem after I have already provided a solution - I will work towards fixing that problem for free if it's something I haven't done properly or something that doesn't meet the original requirements of the client.

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

It all started when I worked at JB Hifi as an IT sales person. People would purchase goods not fully knowing how to set them up. I would assist in store but found that too much of my time was spent troubleshooting instead of selling. I would arrange call outs and solve issues in people's homes and had a lot of happy customers.

What do you like most about your job?

Boosting my ego knowing that I have been able to use my knowledge to help someone else.  It's a great feeling when you are the one people turn to when resolving technical issues.

These are the most common questions I always ask - and hope that clients would ask too:  What method would you use to solve this problem? How long will it take? How much will it cost? Have you done it before?

The most common requests I have had are:  I want to connect my computer to the TV and play this and that. I want to make my connection work in other parts of the house. I want to share and back up my files with all of my computers at home. I want to be able to print from any computer anywhere in the house to my printer.

I'm local. Who I am and what I do and where I am located is no secret. I am available for any kind of face to face work and can always be contacted for assistance.

I am friendly, communicate very well from past customer service roles and have now developed my skills with a lot of experience to get the job done right and keep customers happy.

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

It's the 20 question game! Where are you located? How much do you want to spend? When would you like to go ahead? What kind of computer is it? What kind of software is on it? What do you use it for? How important is this function to you? What do you want to do? What do you have already? How do you use your current solution? Why do you think a new solution would be better? Where will the product be located? Will you be using it for business or for personal use?      The questions will only end once I understand all of your needs.

How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips

I'm more than happy to work together with clients and find ways to reduce any fees. If this means offering alternative solutions or cutting back parts of the work - I can organise it.  If a customer is happy to pick up a screwdriver and open up their own machine I'm more than happy to guide them remotely for free if they have already been a client of mine.

I deliver quality work and I guarantee my work to the degree that if there is something I have missed I am happy to come back and sort it out if you are a paying customer. I speak English very well and communicate solutions in an easy to understand way.  For what you get, my pricing is the best value you will find.

How do you normally charge for your service?

I vary my charges to be fair on the customers. Most customers like a flat rate charge which I do my best to stick to. The worst part about some IT solutions and troubleshooting is that - a teething problem that comes and goes is very hard to pinpoint and fix if it can't be replicated. At that point you may end up spending hours and hours looking for a solution and the only way to find the issue is by means of gradual deduction. In this case - I always let the customers know in advance that these problems can take too long to fix and may not be worth the time and effort compared to a new and improved process.

Is there a particular aspect of your trade or industry that you specialise in?

Home and office networking, resource sharing, point of sale equipment and EftPOS, wireless network stabilisation, software and hardware troubleshooting, powerline network deployment.  I also have a vast knowledge of HiFi Audio, DJ Gear, Karaoke systems, Projector installation and connectivity between the computer network to the entertainment network in your home such as Wireless Audio Streaming from computers and servers to external devices (speakers / amplifiers).  I have also dabbled in Car Audio, Arcade Machines, Laptop Modification and other quirky projects I found interesting.

I have been fixing people's home and office issues and providing solutions for a long time while working for JB Hifi and now that I work for a software company as a systems technician I have more than enough experience and knowledge to get the job done.
