We are fully insured with SGIO Business insurance for all public liability and accidental damage.  Our worker's are insured with CGU Worker's Compensation.

Our master tradesman has worked in the industry for more than 20years, the natural progression after 13 years in the industry was to move on to his own business.

Do you have a favourite customer story you would like to share?

We received a phone call from a very distressed lady, who had new engineered Blackbutt flooring installed, and the flooring was "peaking" (lifting in area's).  Sam attended the quote to repair the floor and the lady was so upset, not only with the installer, but also with herself.  She explained that she was renovating her entire house and had mentioned to brickie she was buying engineered flooring.  The brickie then advised her that "these floors are so simple to install, I could do it for you for half the price".   The brickie installed the floor, not having the training or experience, he installed it incorrectly and floor eventually "peaked". The heartbreaking issue was the cost.  This woman paid the brickie significantly more to install the floor, than what we charge for an experienced, professional service. Consequently, we repaired her floor and then went on to supply and install new Blackbutt flooring throughout the rest of her home.  We did this in 3 separate installations to suit her renovation schedule.

What questions should a customer ask to hire the right service professional?

How long has the installer been installing timber floors.  Make sure you can view photo's of their previous work. Ask to see testimonials, referrals or a sample of workmanship in person.

What questions do customers commonly ask and how would you answer them?

Most common question is what should I use to mop my floor?  Make sure you use a Flat head mop, very well rung out, and using a spray bottle, spray your cleaner into the floor and mop.  The best cleaner to use is a solution of 1 part Vinegar to 10 parts water.

We own the business and run the business.  Being a small family owned and operated business we are responsible for all aspects of making sure your are happy with the product you have purchased and the final installation.

Select Flooring offers professional advice in our specialist field.   We don't sell carpet, tiles, vinyls etc and we are not a one stop shop. If you are after quality timber, bamboo or laminate flooring, we provide a professional, specialist service.

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

Know which area's of your home/office you want new flooring.  Have a rough idea of how many square meters you require, we will do a check measure, but by knowing the square meterage we can have an idea already of the costs and times for installation. Know what types of flooring you are looking for eg: Timber or Laminate

How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips

Tip 1.  Remove all carpet or vinyl yourself, prior to installers arriving.  Tip 2.  Remove all furniture and debris from the installation area before the installers arrive.  Tip 3.  When requesting a quote, be sure that you are ready to place a deposit within 30 days.  All quotes are valid for 30 days, after which prices may increase.

What makes your pricing competitive?

We own our own showroom and employ our own installers, by cutting out sub-contractors, we can offer high quality products at very reasonable prices.   Our package prices include Product, Underlay, Beading and Installation, giving you, the customer, a clear cost upfront.

How do you normally charge for your service?

All our products are based on a square meter rate, regardless of the amount of time it takes to install.  We accept Direct Bank Transfer, Cash or Cheque (by arrangements).  We will also offer Certegy as an interest free option shortly.

Is there a particular aspect of your trade or industry that you specialise in?

We specialize in Engineered Timbers, Solid and engineered Bamboo and laminates. We do also supply and install solid timber, plank on ply, floating cork and direct stick cork.

Our master tradesman has more than 17 years industry experience.  He has traveled to countries such as Portugal, Belgium, London, New York, Thailand and Indonesia studying flooring trends and the manufacturing process. All our installers undergo a 3 year apprenticeship and achieve a Cert III in Flooring Technology.
