  In my experience Monash painting services is an unskilled and unprofessional business. The owner was prompt to view our project and provide a quote, yet delayed agreeing to the quote in writing via email. Thankfully we persisted to a confirmation of expected work for an agreed price before commencement as it aided us in future proceedings. We had regular conversations about areas of painting that were substandard, some of which he said he would fix each time and did not, others he outrightly declared he could not fix- for example the lines between the white of the ceiling and doors and the wall colour were not straight. He stated this was not possible. We insured property damage due to lack of care. Many work areas were not adequately prepared before commencing painting (despite multiple requests too) resulting in paint on the carpet, wooden floors, bed sheets, wooden bed frame, wooden desk, and clothes inside the wardrobe. The inside window frames were spray painted without covering the other furniture in the room resulting in an expensive wooden buffet being sprayed- estimated $1200 to have fixed, and the microwave. Spray paint also on the bathroom floor tiles, which when approached about stated it was there before he started. (He did then clean this area) The outside walls of the house were sprayed over grass, bugs on the wall etc resulting in gaps in the paint. Paint overspray on the ground stone tiles and wooden beams that cannot be fixed. A careless attitude and lack of attention to detail is prevalent in every area of the interior and exterior of the house. Additionally, most days the owner would come to me, when my husband wasnt there, and ask for more money. There were many unpleasant confrontations. The work was not completed within the agreed upon timeframe. This was extended by two weeks under advisement of consumer affairs. Monash painting services did not come back to fix this issues during this 2 week extension. Instead there were multiple confusing emails from the owner asking what the weather was going to be like etc. When informed they were no longer welcome to the house, the owner refused to discuss the situation and would respond to emails with tangential rants about other jobs he’s completed, sending photos of other buildings and stated we are “the first to complain”. He demanded to return, said it was his “right”. He also iluded to his mental health and stated that if anything happens to his business or family that it is “our fault”. Unfortunately as resolution could not be reached the dispute ended up at VCAT. It took 7 months to resolve, during which my husband and I (while pregnant) needed to fix the substandard painting ourselves. I warn anyone thinking of hiring a painter to avoid Monash painting services. All of the claims in this review can be substantiated with photos and email evidence.
