Yes the business is fully insured you don't need to worry about that, a copy of the inurance policy is available upon request, Yes I can surtanly guarantee my workman ship.

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

I started this line of work at the age of 16, starting my apprenticeship with my father who also was a painter from an early age until retiring from painting. I have worked for several other painters over the years learning different aspects of the trade as I did. Bringing every thing I have learned together over the years to my own business.

There has been so many fantastic customers over the years it would be hard to pin point just one favourite customer story. In this trade you have to take the good with the bad. Lucky for me I haven't had to many bad customers over the years.

The thing I like about this job the most would have to be the job satisfaction I get from it, when you can walk away from a job after your finished and have the customer say to you wow that looks fantastic.

I think the main questions a customer should ask is are you insured? firstly because if any thing goes wrong or secondly if anything gets damaged then it can be fixed or replaced. And they should also ask are you qualified.

In my trade I get a Some customers asking me questions like what color I think they should paint it? I usually tell them what colors I personally like, or colors that I have used on past jobs of similar style or look, sometimes colors that I like are not what others like, that is the thing about color, they can be a very individual choose.

I have been in this industry for 30 years now and I pride my self on being on time, neat and tidy, and trustworthy. I hold a current police check card, I don't smoke or drink or do drugs, I am a loving husband and father who has respect for the older people of are community.

I'm local to the Rosebud area,  I'm fully qualified as a painter and decorator, I am fully insured and I have 30 years in the this industy, I come from a family of painters, taking over my fathers business.

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

Typically the things I need to know would be the areas that are required to be worked on, the name of a color, so to know weather the color will cover in allowed amount of coats. Will furniture be move by me or them, time when Customer expects job to start. Things of that nature.

Accepted Answer

Customers can save money if they are willing to do certain things to help. For example if its internal works, making sure that things are moved out of the way or packed away, and same for exterior work. Also cleaning down or washing things prior to the start of works can help. Anything that will save time is always an advantage to the client and will save them money.

Being in the industries for 30 years has given me the skills necessary to be able to competitively price jobs, you don't last long in this game if you can't be competitive.

How do you normally charge for your service?

Normally I would do an estimate/quote for labor and materials giving the client a total price for the works. How ever there's also the jobs that can't be estimated so an hourly rate will apply.

Is there a particular aspect of your trade or industry that you specialise in?

I specialise in doing repaints mainly, interior and exterior repaints. I find it's the best job satisfaction walking onto a job that is badly in need of work, and once it's finished walking away looking at the job done and thinking wow it looks so great now.

I have 30 years of experience to offer my clients, I'm fully trade qualified with tickets, I have a current white card, current working with children/police check, and hold a licence to perform high risk work (WP)
