Renate is a Sydney based artist and completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2013 at UNSW and her Honors in Photography at Sydney College of Arts in 2015. In 2016, Renate built her own photographic darkroom in Brookvale, Sydney where she embarked on a journey into practicing 19th century Wet Plate Photography, which was where she developed her love for for portraiture. Renate spent the next 6 years taking portraits in her studio and out on location. Since mid 2024, Renate started to take on collaborations and commissions, which has led her to photographing a whole new exciting variety of people places and things including: Weddings, Engagement parties, Birthdays, Maternity, New borns, Family moments, Live music, Headshots for editorials, Fashion, Pets, Flora + Fauna, Restaurant interior, Landscape and the list goes on. Where ever Renate goes and has her camera, she will be sure to capture the perfect shot of moments that can then be cherished for lifetimes. Renate still works with Film (analogue) as well as digital photogrpahy, and will work across both mediums depending on the job and the needs of the client. Renate has really enjoyed taking on these new projects and always looks forward to creating and capturing beautiful moments for her clients. With her background in Fine Art Photography, the point of difference is her artistic vision and her trained eye to capture natural moments using available light, rather than staged more traditional studio photographs.
