  • How did you decide to get into your line of work?

    I didn’t know what I wanted to be when I grew up, and after high school I completed a traineeship in Radio Broadcasting. I was on a small team of people that built a narrowcast radio station from scratch. We learnt quickly that we had to work out how to engage with the local community and there definitely wasn’t social media back then. We were starting to get some traction after attending the local school and hosting a small festival, but I knew we needed to lift our game so I just started cold calling promotional managers of large music festivals trying to get backstage tickets to interview bands in hope of increasing popularity of our tiny radio station that nobody seemed to appreciate my passion for. Call after call I was declined, so started contacting the artists or their managers directly and got a run of ‘yes’s’. With some band interviews under our belt and more coming, our listener stats were on the climb. I was offered a position from a commercial radio station at this stage and started working across both stations and another in both broadcasting & promotions management for approximately 4 more years on different contracts or casual set ups. Working in radio was heaps fun, but I wondered what it would be like to have a big girl job. Permanent employment instead of all the contracts. I knew I formed good relationships, was interested in what people called home and on a whim applied for a position in real estate and like most in the industry haven’t looked back. I completed a traineeship with a large real estate brand in 2006 and my first position was Leasing Manager. This was a busy position with responsibility for leasing of the entire rent roll of approx 1800 properties. I was fresh from radio, my world was interviewing people and found myself doing just that at leasing inspections, and it worked. Properties were renting and if prospects didn’t like the place I showed them – I had already diligently asked them everything about their life, so was able to match them up with something else that I knew they would love. This traineeship saw me exploring all positions underneath a standard real estate roof and I soon progressed into property management where I stayed and excelled in numerous positions for the next 8-odd years taking out a heap of awards across various workplaces until levelling up and managing teams of successful property management staff servicing clients all over Greater Brisbane, and even a team in Townsville. I have made a career out of talking to people, listening to what their individual needs are and basically just doing that and then some, within the guidelines of relevant legislation. The best bit about property management is having the opportunity to help people find their new home and in the same transaction fulfilling the landlords needs of renting their property out. I love it when their property is doing everything they dreamed it would when they purchased it and then throwing some sprinkles on the top whether it be a better rental yield, or with the greatest tenants of all time. Over the years I have learnt that almost all landlords want to deal with just 1 person, and I have built Revolve Property around this concept. I personally seek a genuine experience when paying someone for a service and you can count on me to deliver this at all times as well as anyone underneath the Revolve Property banner. In my spare time I like discovering new music and look forward to going to live shows again soon when the world regathers from COVID-19. Revolve Property officially opening feels like the narrowcast radio station all over again, except I have 15 years of experience in the industry (not 0) and I couldn’t be more ready to deliver.
