We have full public liability cover, workcover and also hold a QBCC license which we are happy to provide the customer with on request before undertaking any work.

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

I always liked the idea of restoring old properties. I helped an old neighbour of mine repaint his front door and screen when I was younger. We changed the colours and it gave a whole new look to his entrance. I then got the opportunity to take up an apprenticeship. The company mainly worked on Victorian and Edwardian types of properties. The transformation of a lot of them from old to new was amazing. That was the start of my journey.

Do you have a favourite customer story you would like to share?

We were working last year on a job in Pullinvale. The job lasted about 4 weeks. Everyday when we had a break the customer would bring us a cake for tea. This doesn't happen too often and we don't expect it to but it was wonderful to realise how much appreciation they had for our work. Little did we know she baked them fresh every morning.

What do you like most about your job?

The best thing about the job is seeing a tired project come to life again after putting in a lot of preparation and then seeing a quality finish at the end. It is also good to see an apprentice you have worked with over the years producing good work from working with you as it shows he is learning the trade well.

Are you and your staff qualified? Do you have a license? ABN? Do you have liability cover? Do you have any previous clients who could reference you if required?

Do you do internal and external painting? Yes. When are you available? Normally within two weeks. Do you guarantee your work? Our work is guaranteed through the QBCC.

What makes you the most reliable and trustworthy person for the job?

I believe in conducting my business in a professional manner, if we give a time we will be there on time, if for any reason we are held up we will call you within minutes.  All of our tradesmen are known to us, we do not employ staff by the day and leave them in your premises without knowing who they are.  We work in many properties where people have to go about doing their daily business albeit at work or other commitments, we always have someone on the job at all times and protect your property as if it was our own.

We provide quality work at a competitive price, we leave the job clean and tidy and with a high standard of finish you would be pleased to come home to, hopefully using us for your future projects.

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

We generally prefer to do a site inspection as this enables us to first of all see the condition of the surface if pre painted and how much preparation is required this enables us to also take accurate measurements and provide the most competitive quote.

How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips

1. Make sure that the work area is clear to start work in.  2. Washing down paintwork helps protect it over time and will save time and money on preparation. 3. Do general touch ups on your property to prevent wood rotting.

What makes your pricing competitive?

We charge by the going rate. We pride ourselves on doing the right preparation as this is what makes a paint job last. We don't just fill the cracks with paint to do the job cheap so the job looks good for a few weeks, we want it to last years so that customers get their money's worth.

We prefer to do the job by providing a quotation based on measurements, we can also calculate the job on a time basis. Our preference is to do it on a measured quotation as this means it is in our interest to get the job done as soon as possible.

At Prime 2 Colour we specialise in all types of internal and external painting and decorating on old and new projects. These include wallpapering and specialised features.
