Are you an insured business and do you guarantee your work?

Accepted Answer

No I am not An Insured Business, as I have not had the need to be.  I guarantee that the work will be 100% accurate, and that all Balance Sheet Accounts are reconciled with supporting documentation.

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

After I retired, I did some renovations around the house and then found I had time to kill. My wife and I did a lot of travel both Overseas and local, so travelling bug had been scratched. I missed working with figures, so I decided to do bookkeeping for small to medium business to keep  active

Do you have a favourite customer story you would like to share?

My current customer has 3 active business and 2 finished ones. The business had not been reconciled for the past three years. After the first 7 months I was able to recoup just over $30,000 in unclaimed GST related expenditure, and over $20,000 in R&D grants which the business was eligable for.

What do you like most about your job?

What I have been doing has been cleaning up the mess other bookkeepers have made of my clients accounts. I have had to correct and reconcile two years of previous mistakes and I got great satisfaction when the jobs were completed and were able to be sent to the Tax Accountants for submission.

About my work experience, and how long I have been in any particular Job? I tell them I have 40 Years of Accounting experience, and that I have worked for 6 different Companies, the longest time was 21 years, with I left for retirement. I intend to work for a long time still.

I have worked for Craig for the past 5years. His business operstes from his home, and during my time there I have worked completely a lone as he has to visit his farm and Investment properties frequently. He gave me the key to his house on the first day I started.

Have proven myself to my customers, by fixing up problems they had with their previous Bookkeepers, by reconciling and correcting Balance Sheets before being sent to The Taz Accountants for lodgement

The type of Business they Have.  What type of Accounting Software is being used. Will the work be from home or on site. Will the job involve just data entry, or the full accounting package up to Tax Preparation

The answere to this question would require at least a basic idea of the business, and how it is run, and how many people are employed

Depending on the customers business, work on site for one or two days at no cost to them so they can see the accurate work I do.

What makes your pricing competitive?

My pricing policy has been based on my customers situation and business. From the four customers I have serviced (which two are still current) I found my Hourly Rate to be correct for what has to be done.

Invoicing Weekly or Monthly detailing Hours worked. (Not GST Registered) Working from home or at the site. Can work as an employee if customer requires.

All aspects of Manufacturing and Standard Costing.  Have developed Standard Costing reports where there were none before. I am proficient with all aspects of Financial Accounting up to Tax preparation

I am 70 Years old, in excellent health, and have worked as an Factory Account for 40 Years. I have been doing Bookkeeping for the past 5.5 years
