Accepted Answer

Yes my business is insured.  I cannot guarantee my work, however, I can guarantee that the client receives the highest quality of service and care.

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

Accepted Answer

Having an interest in Makeup from my early teenage years, my skills were noted by family and friends.  As I grew my interest in Makeup increased and I found myself speaking about trends and looks with family and friends which showed the interest and amount of knowledge I had through reading and research.  And soon Family friends would ask if I could do the makeup on a bride they personally know, which I agreed to do free of charge as I had no qualification then.  Within a short period of time, word had spread and I started getting bookings quickly, which, were still provided free of charge, as at that time I had no qualification, (I was not comfortable charging them without being a qualified and professional MUA).  Therefore, I decided to take a course and get my qualification as a Makeup Artist.

Do you have a favourite customer story you would like to share?

A very common compliment I receive from clients is "that is the most beautiful makeup I have ever seen!"  and "Wow!  I never knew I could look this good!" and after the service I often receive messages like: "...the makeup lasted all day!"  That is why I do what I do, and love doing.   Furthermore, due to my vast knowledge and experience, my techniques are often not seen before, therefore often clients say "My (usual) Makeup artist never does that; that is so clever!"

What do you like most about your job?

It always gives me great joy to see the clients' (and their friends/ family)'s reaction when I finish the makeup application.  Clients are often surprised at their own beauty.  Furthermore, when I receive thankful and complimentary emails or messages.

What questions should a customer ask to hire the right service professional?

Accepted Answer

The client should always ask about a Makeup Artist's experience, and how importantly they adhere to hygiene requirements relative to their tools and products.  Whilst price is often a factor, it must not be decided based on the cheapest available option.  Remember, the Makeup Artist will be applying products onto your skin, to enhance your beauty; therefore quality and hygiene should supersede cost.

What questions do customers commonly ask and how would you answer them?

"Can you make me look like X celebrity please?" Is the most commonly asked question.  My response is that I can certainly apply the makeup style; however, I am not able to alter the client's features. I am, however, able to recreate (most) makeup styles that a client shows me, with the products and shades that I own.

What makes you the most reliable and trustworthy person for the job?

As a Hair and Makeup Artist. my obligation is to enhance my client's beauty and make them feel special for their special occasion.  In doing so, I take into consideration the client's personality, needs and wishes and very carefully listen to their desired look, paying attention to their skin type requirement.  I am happy to create a look requested by the client, as am I happy to create a look that suits the client's individual features and beauty.  I talk the process of what I am doing with the client, so they are aware what I am applying on their face and neck, and ask about their skin type and condition before hand. Should I miss your call, it will be returned to you.  However, I ask that you please do leave a message if I am not able to take your call, or you may simply send me a text message, or FB message and I will return your call.

Over 22 years experience in London (UK) and Melbourne, I've been involved as the Makeup Artist in several Runways and Fashion shows, in addition to Photo-shoots. My makeup application and techniques ensure that the makeup stays fresh all day and well into the night.  I have experience in all ages and am very comfortable doing mature ladies' makeup as well as young, and various cultural makeup trends and all skin tones. I specialise in Bridal and Evening, my experience is visible; appreciated and complimented by clients. I explain to the client what I am about to apply, and am always happy to answer any questions the client has.  I am always happy to share my tricks and knowledge with my clients as I apply makeup on them; I do not insist on them taking a makeup lesson with me just to get some knowledge from me.  Should a makeup course be specifically requested, this service is available separately.

OneFlare customers get a reduced price to my standard price and often the travel fee where applicable, is either wavered or reduced.

What makes your pricing competitive?

Using only high quality products, and my experience in the field makes my pricing competitive.  I deliver the highest level of quality makeup application for all my clients, and only charge for travel fees if it exceeds 50km from Lyndhurst.

How do you normally charge for your service?

Accepted Answer

Fees depend on the type of event and how much time is spent on the client, as well as how much in products.  For example, the bride would require the most attention to detail; whilst the quality on the bridal party is not compromised.  However, the bride's makeup is usually slightly heavier to allow for photo-shoots with Flash photography, but also to ensure it lasts all day and night, through eating, drinking, dancing, emotional ups and downs, and having a great time without worrying about her makeup. Although I specialise in Bridal and Special Occasions Makeup, I have considerable experience in Fashion shows, Photo-shoots.  Furthermore, I have made up Australian celebrities for photo-shoots and performances.
