Are you an insured business and do you guarantee your work?

Our business is insured for 20 million of public liability and all our staff are under the standard workcover format. All our Electrical, Plumbing and Airconditioning is certified with the ESV and PIC certification.

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

We wanted to create a company that made it easier for people to maintain their businesses, homes and farms. By offering a number of trades through one company the process of finding various trades is significantly reduced.

Do you have a favourite customer story you would like to share?

Every now and again we will strike someone who is down on their luck, sick, or has struck hard times, if we can help the person in need by charging little or nothing at all we all have better day. No one story really stands out.

I love interacting with the public , I love the fact that my trade has taken me around Australia almost 3 times, and that now that I am in business I can pass on what I have learnt to the apprentices that I employ.

Customers Commonly ask how long we have been in business?, and I can proudly say over 10 years. How long have I bee n a tradesman?, almost 20 years. What is the best brand to install?, the brands that provide a robust warranty and a number of trained service personal in their area.

What makes you the most reliable and trustworthy person for the job?

We throughly check all our staff before they commence work with Ontrak Services, and we watch how they work and interact with the public and other staff in the 1st couple of months of employment.  We have a large client base now that don't hesitate to give us their keys and undertake work when they are not home.

Why should a customer hire you over another service provider?

We pride our selves on prompt reliable service, and keeping the customer informed all the way through the job. All our staff are multi skilled and or dual traded, so the customer can be reassured they are getting the best possible person to carry out the works required. If we ever find there is an area of work that we are unable or not licenced to undertake we have the right company's around us to call on to lend a hand or an ear.

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

Name, Address, Phone no, work required to be undertaken or quoted. Some customers may want use a cheaper range of product due to their circumstances and we always clarify this first.

How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips

Accepted Answer

1. Give as much information about the job over the phone before a tradesman gets to site. 2. Don't attempt the work themselves as 9 out of 10 times we will have to start over again. 3. Check your potential tradies out, are they Licensed, insured and experienced, you don't want to have to do the job twice.

We can offer a great deal at the moment , with a summer run out on Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Reverse cycle Inverter wall splits. If someone comes to us via Oneflare we will knock 5% extra off our run out prices.

What makes your pricing competitive?

We alter our pricing to suit the type of work we are undertaking, for example, our general domestic Electrical work may be $60 dollars per hour because we know that there are a lot of electricians in our area. Although if a university needs a large package AC repaired we know that the skill base to carry out this type of work isn't that great so we will charge accordingly. Our overheads are very low so if push comes to shove we can drop our rates very easily.

How do you normally charge for your service?

Our service is normally charged by the hour. For new installations we are more than happy to provide a quotation. Repair work can be hard to quote at times but we constantly keep the customer updated and once we identify the problem we are then able to provide a quotation to complete the repair. We don't charge travel rates on top of our Hourly rate as many company's do, we charge from the time we leave the workshop to the time we get back by the hour if a quotation has not been provided.

We are a service company, primarily set up to save customers the hassle of chasing a number of different trades. We specialise in Electrical, Heating and Cooling including all types of Heat pumps, we cover Design Installation,  breakdown and repair(Lighting, power,TV and Data machiney, appliances, ovens,hotwater systems and all types of heating and cooling etc) Our 1 area that does separate us from all others is Our design, manufacture and installation of Geothermal heating and cooling systems.

What experience, skills, qualifications or training do you have to make you the right person for the job?

Caleb Howard, started and runs Ontrak Services. He is a Licensed Electrical Contractor and Licenced Plumber, in the state of Victoria and a nationally Licensed Refrigeration mechanic and Data and Phone technician. He has been actively working in these areas for over 20 years and prides himself on passing on all he has learnt to those working at Ontrak Services. All our employees are either Licenced tradespeople or apprentices, we don't employ labourers. We do our best to keep ahead of an ever changing work environment in areas of safety and technology.
