Welcome to Essential Sign & Nick the Signwriter a family business owned and operated for over 35years by one of Australia’s leading traditional signwriters Nick Marandola. After completing a four-year apprenticeship with a prestige Melbourne sign company in 1987, Nick immediately set out gaining further industry knowledge and experience in the craft of traditional brush lettering. The rare craft of signwriting has been a passionate and discipline commitment for many years, handed down to Nick by the old masters of the trade. He learned and applied the skills of traditional signwriting, such as mastering letter formation and the art of layout using only hand, brush, paint and mahl stick on shopfronts, honour boards, vehicles, glass, walls, banners and much more. Nick specialises in gold leaf and traditional hand-crafted lettering, pinstriping, hand painted murals, wall graphics and more. Nick has witnessed the signage industry evolve from one of traditionally brush skills, to vinyl cut lettering and graphics, to its present focus on large format digital printing, and he will continue to evolve with it.
