How did you decide to get into your line of work?

I have built all over Australia. Worked in interesting companies. Worked in Japan and the USA. But I loved Canberra because of its architectural planning of the city. So I chose to be here now. I like it as it is close to nature.

What do you like most about your job?

Accepted Answer

I get to meet interesting people. I like exchanging ideas. I really do meet interesting people and the more I meet them the look I find I really like people. This is a great job for getting around and meeting people.

What questions should a customer ask to hire the right service professional?

What do they know about buildings? Are they a qualified builder? If so, what class of builder? I am a Class A builder.

Why should a customer hire you over another service provider?

The building inspector is a builder, architect, and quite professional. He can sort out your house's problems. When you ring up, on the above number, you are speaking with him. He will do your inspection.

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

How far away is the job? How big is the home and how many buildings? Anything else, like farm sheds, pool, etc?

I am old school and I am happy to spend the time with the client on site as much as they need. I am already there so I feel it is good to help.

What makes your pricing competitive?

The price makes it competitive. But I think clients like working with me because I know a lot about building and am happy to share my knowledge to help them. I am an architect and builder.

How do you normally charge for your service?

I am old school. So long as the client know the costs and the terms, which I get in writing, then I just do the job and send the invoice with the inspection report. I only ask that if I do the job fast, can I be paid fast?

Is there a particular aspect of your trade or industry that you specialise in?

As an architect, I tend to be able to see how a building should be, not just what it is built like. It gives me a certain compassion with people. So, sometimes people ask me how to go about things and I help them. I make sure when it is outside my scope that they understand.

What experience, skills, qualifications or training do you have to make you the right person for the job?

I have decades of experience inspecting buildings. I did it overseas on large commercial buildings. I have worked for large construction companies, and myself. I know the top and the bottom of the industry.
