Yes, Lush Pet Care has premium insurance up to the value of $10,000,000 for Products and Public Liability.  If any customer is not happy with our service in any way, we guarantee a full refund.  However, the refund must be justified.

Do you have a favourite customer story you would like to share?

Morgan, a 6 year old female doberman, lived about a 45 min drive from my home base which is out of my region. However, it was Christmas time and the family was in dire need of a pet sitter for Morgan whilst they fly up to the Gold coast to spend Christmas with family. I am really glad that I did not turn the assignment down as Morgan literally stole my heart during the 2 weeks of house and pet-sitting spent with her.  Lush Pet Care has since been back to pet sit Morgan.

What do you like most about your job?

Working with animals especially 'up close and personal' ! Discovering and learning (first hand) about each different breed as they come in each time. Understanding their unique behaviour patterns and characteristics. Treating each pet with respect as we ourselves would like to be treated.   Appreciating and enjoying their company and time that is spent with them. Keeping them happy and comfortable during their stay with us. Putting a smile on their faces just makes it all worthwhile :)

What questions should a customer ask to hire the right service professional?

They should ask the pet sitter what their experience is with looking after animals/pets. They should ask questions on knowledge or safety issues if their pets were in danger. Does the pet sitter or groomer have product and public liability insurance cover.

What questions do customers commonly ask and how would you answer them?

1. How much do I charge and how long do I stay with their pets for pet sitting? Standard 30 min home visit is $27 for 1st pet. Extra pets, extended time and public holidays will incur an extra charge.   Please check with your Lush Pet Carer for final rates. Doggie Day Care at yours or ours for only $49 per 8 hours between 9am - 6pm. Extra time is @$10 per hour. Overnight stays are only @$59 per 24 hour clock.  2. Have you got insurance cover? Yes, Lush Pet Care has premium insurance up to the value of $10,000,000 for Products and Public Liability.  Insurance is included in every booking.   3.  For dog grooming, how long does it take to bath and clip a small dog? Generally, 2 hours is the standard amount of time to bath, dry and clip a small dog (who has been clipped many times before.)  This includes break time for the pooch and the groomer!  4.  What are the surcharges for ? Surcharges @$25 per hour will be charged for extra time.  EXTRA time can be anything from 2-5 hours sometimes. The following may be the cause: a)  If the dog is found with knots, mats or bindis, then it would take EXTRA time to get them out before we can start shaving.  Our clippers (cost @$300) generally will not function if it gets caught up in debris and may get damaged.   b)  First time clips may also need EXTRA time for the new/young pet to ADJUST to the sound of hair dryers and clippers.  Pet groomers generally need to exercise a lot of skill, patience and training for the new pet and to make sure that the new experience is a pleasant and happy one for its future grooming. c)  Temperamental or behavioural issues of some pets may arise during the grooming process which could take up extra time for the groomer.  Pet groomers need to have a break too.   It is required by State Law that a 30 min meal break is required after every 4 hours of work which is included as paid time..  So setting a time limit for the groomer especially when the pet has issues with the grooming process only adds more pressure for the groomer.  Basically, hurrying a pet groomer is like hurrying an artist trying to paint with a deadline!  Imagine.....lol Sometimes, coming back the next day might be an option as the long hours may just be too much for poor pooch! Time with our groomers cannot be taken for granted and fairly so! We ask for your patience and understanding during difficult situations with your pets. Surcharges will apply for extra time as stated. We thank you for your understanding.   4.  Do you groom cats? Yes, we do bath and clip including nail clipping. Prices for cats will have to discussed with your Lush Pet Groomer.  The rate will depend on the breed of cat, temperament of cat and type of service required. So therefore, it is more expensive to groom cats than it is to groom dogs for some very good reasons given above.

We do not come from a big organisation. We do not charge a huge amount of money for our services. We do not compete with other pet service providers. We do not own a pet grooming van.  However, we do offer a personal, caring and attentive service to you and your pet/s. We rely on our animal instinct and connection with the pet/s whilst we are with them to give them the best service we can to keep them happy, comfortable and stress free after every visit, groom or care.  For example  - we spend more time with them than what is required.    - we buy/ bring them toys or treats to spoil them during our visit  - we wash and brush them without being asked to do so.  - we take them out for walks without being asked to do so.   - etc etc etc  We understand that their happiness, comfort and safety is important to their pet owners who rely on us whilst they're away. What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

Pet location (suburb) How many pets  Size of pets Breed  Clipping - specify nail or fur? Try to be specific about what your pet requirements.  The more detail you provide, the better the service we can provide. We ask that customers be honest about revealing issues about their pets when asking for a quote especially if EXTRA time may be required. Please note that the groomer will be examining the pet upon arrival. Any misinformation by pet owners will rule out the original quote.

Lush Pet Care offers very competitive pricing especially in our market area. However, we are flexible and adaptable with our pricing depending on different circumstances.  For example, we are lenient towards pensioners, students and disabled customers who are not so mobile (wheelchair) and we offer them a discounted rate. We aim to hep our clients as best we can with pricing and service without doing ourselves out of business. We would be happy to beat any price quoted with proof and within reason. However, we hope that customers realize that going for the cheapest often does not give them the result that they are looking for.

What experience, skills, qualifications or training do you have to make you the right person for the job?

Cassandra grew up in a family who bred cats and dogs for generations. There was no doubt about Cassandra's love for animals when she decided to take up a career in animal care after her late maltese/shitzu passed some years ago and sadly missed. Cassandra is also an active animal-rights activist helping to raise funds for animal rescue organisations all over the world such as WSPCA, Feed A Tiger in Wisconsin, RSPCA, Stop Bear Bile Trade, SOI Dog in Thailand, Sea Shepherd and even Greenpeace. She is also active on social media in spreading awareness to the public with regards to animal abuse and cruelty.  Cassandra has a certificate IV in Small Business Management done at the Sydney Business Centre as well as a Certificate in Pet Sitting via Open Learning Courses Online.  Cassandra will be enrolling into the University of New South Wales in 2017 to study part-time in Animal Science and Biology to become a fully qualified vet in a few years.
