Are you an insured business and do you guarantee your work?

Accepted Answer

Over our 5 year history we have had extremely very minimal incidences of accidenal damage to furniture or goods. No driving accidents ever to the truck, buildings or property.     In saying that we do have full public liability insurance as well as transit insurance as required.    Our goal is to have happy repeat customers for life! In the event there may be an accidental damage I will do everything I possibly can to ensure our clients are happy.

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

I moved to Australia from The U.S.A. My first job was at a Large Furniture Removalist Company. Worked my way up from working in the trucks as a removalist through various other positions. Decided to give it a go on my own. Local Small Move Solutions

Do you have a favourite customer story you would like to share?

One of many would have been during the floods. We essentially had to get out very early in the morning and get everything out of an apartment in a limited amount of time before the river rose more and the client would have lost everything. So glad we could help out during that traumatic time for so many.

I listen to horror stories frequently from potential clients on a regular basis where other companies didn't turn up for numerous reasons, or disappointed them for various reasons. Moving home can be a very stressful thing... I read second to divorce? I like my job because I know people can count on us. I like building relationships and taking care of our clients. I love it when someone comes back to us or sends a happy customer report and addresses me by my first name. I've built many relationships over the last 5 years with Local Small Move Solutions!

A client should get a feel if they are talking to a professional company that will look after them  by looking at the potential movers website and to speaking to someone over the phone. Aside from that there is no real way of knowing. Is There? People trust referrals from their friends & family. That is where we win.

How long will my job take? Our guys are very quick and will get the job done as efficiently as possible. The amount of time your job will take depends upon a few factors. The main one is access to the property/ies, Secondly how prepared you are and lastly if you or others will be helping out.

We have never not turned up for a job ever in our history. We accept our role as a professional company to get the job always done on the day as scheduled. We treat our customer's goods as if we would want our goods to be treated. It's that simple!

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

Where are they moving from and to? (Suburbs are best..postcodes? not really needed). What do they have to move? ( A definitive list is best!) When do you want to move? (Specific date is best as we have different rates for different days. What is the access like at each location? (3 Flights of stairs? Lift access? Ground level? Close  parking? long walk etc.) Any specialy items? (pianos, pool tables etc.)

How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips

Be prepared as possible! If there are beds or other furniture that needs to be dismantled and you are able to do it yourself this will only save time which saves money. If moving out of an apartment building, organise the lift/loading dock, parking, lift padding etc. with management/body corporate in advance. Be sure that we are able to move around freely to get whatever we need in the order we like to pack the truck as efficiently as possible (no obstructions in floor etc.) We can generally load the fridge on last. no need to turn off or empty too far in advance. Have an Esky ready to unload at our discretion.

What makes your pricing competitive?

Our rates are on the lower range of most professional companies. There are some cheaper but you get what you pay for (Are they professional?) We allow our clients to help out as much or as little as they like. We ourselves are more than willing to do as much as we are required to do ( Clients are different as to their preferences..some want us to leave small things in the garage and just put heavy things into place to save money for an example. Some have beds and furniture to be dismantled/reassembled and it's already done and ready to go whilst some clients want us to do everything). Completely your choice. Not a problem.  Our teams are very efficient and will get the job done as quickly and carefully as possible. Hourly rate really means very little. It's the total cost at the end of the job. We want happy customers for life so we are only going to do our best everytime.

How do you normally charge for your service?

We normally charge on an hourly rate so that our clients only pay for the time they use! We only charge a 1-hour minimum and thereafter we only charge in quarter-hourly increments. All rates can be found on our website: www.localsmallmoves.com.au All rates are GST inclusive and we accept payment on completion of each move by Visa, Mastercard, Eftpos or Cash. In special circumstances we may be able to provide a fixed price quotation but we do not believe this is best for our clients as we are trustworthy and going to get the job done as quickly as possible!

We are the small move experts! We specialise in 1-2 bedroom units/homes (Stairs are not a problem), item moves, storage moves (we can refer you to the best professional facilities close to you), internal moves (Having floors redone or just need things moved within the house?), Kitchen/cabinet deliveries, appliance/furniture deliveries and More!

What experience, skills, qualifications or training do you have to make you the right person for the job?

As the owner of the company, I have over 15 years of moving experience including Accreditations in all aspects of furniture removals work and certificates in Road transport. I have held positions over the years as an Office Relocation Manager and Call Centre Manager at other companies all in the Removals field as well as winning various sales awards and team player awards.             All of my team are screened very carefully and given any further training skills needed above their previous experience to ensure that every move is done as efficiently as possible with no damage. Friendly Customer service is all part of our package.
