Good interior design and decorating is more than just the selection of colours, styles and furniture. I believe it is a collaboration between myself and my client, and together we create beautiful spaces that are practical, ambient ,and fit in with your lifestyle. My role is to appreciate your values and taste, empathize with your personal style, and help you create a space that is gorgeous and reflects you. My style is elegant, casual and understated. I love a look that is timeless-designs that reflect good taste, and that will maintain that good taste well into the future. The styles I love to work with can loosely be described as: French and English country, Hamptons, India Hicks island life, British colonial (think Raffles Hotel in Singapore) and Bohemian. I love traditional designs, quality craftsmanship, and contemporary touches. Often all of these combine to create exquisite rooms and lovely ambience. I often incorporate natural fibres, including raw silks, linen and fresh cottons. Rooms I have worked on with my clients often derive their charm from a combination of simplicity and skilful selection. When we are looking at furniture or homewares, I won't push you into buying anything you don't love. My rule is, "If you don't love it, don't buy it." There are too many other fabulous options around these days to have to settle for anything less. Of course, budget is always a consideration, and sometimes compromise is inevitable. But I want my clients to feel that they can relax and rely on our shared decisions so that they can achieve the home they really want. In short, I've got your back. I'm independent, and will shop anywhere- from tres glamorous interiors shops, to the odd op-shop or garage sale. I have no affiliation with particular stores or suppliers. I am not an egotistical self-absorbed designer who will charge you the earth. My hourly rate is $50.00, less than a plumber, more than an ironing lady. I won't make you feel bad. You need never feel embarrassed by your home, or the things you have in it. I'll always be glad you phoned, and are trying to make improvements. I will maximize the space in your home. So often, I find that people live in only one or two rooms in their house, and hardly ever use various other rooms. Together, we can figure out how to best use the space that you have.
