Are you an insured business and do you guarantee your work?

I have both equipment and public and professional liability insurance which I renew on an annual basis.

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

My favourite part of over 40 years in Local Courts, was conducting wedding ceremonies on Friday afternoons, sometimes 2 or 3 on a single day, and seeing the happiness on the faces of the brides and grooms, as well as their loved ones.

What do you like most about your job?

I enjoy the whole process, from first meeting where I hear about the journey each couple has taken together to that point, and why they consider particular inclusions for their ceremony, to meeting their loved ones at rehearsal or on the day of their ceremony.

What questions do customers commonly ask and how would you answer them?

I'm often asked to meet couples at night or on weekends, and because I specialize in wedding ceremonies, I  have the time available, at short notice, to do that.

Why should a customer hire you over another service provider?

Although I always loan couples samples of ceremonies to assist them, I believe in encouraging them to include as much personal material in their ceremony as they wish, rather than simply use a ceremony prepared for others.

What makes your pricing competitive?

Accepted Answer

I am aware there can be a broad range of celebrant prices in the industry but I have relatively low overheads and I am therefore able to charge couples little more than they would pay if they were to go to the Births Deaths and Marriages Registry with their two witnesses.

How do you normally charge for your service?

Accepted Answer

I ask for a booking fee to secure my services for the date chosen by the couple, with the balance payable by 2 weeks before their ceremony. Payments can be by cash or direct deposit.

Is there a particular aspect of your trade or industry that you specialise in?

Accepted Answer

I work exclusively in the area of civil marriage ceremonies. This involves initial telephone contact (where possible) or via email, arranging initial meeting with couples, sighting the required documents, preparing ceremonies, conducting rehearsals (if required) and working in conjunction with musicians, photographers and members of the bridal party in order to have the ceremony conducted exactly how the couple wish.

What experience, skills, qualifications or training do you have to make you the right person for the job?

I conducted wedding ceremonies as a court registrar for over 25 years. Testimonials I have received as a Civil Celebrant confirm that I am prepared to go out of my way to assist couples so far as meetings, suggestions and answering questions are concerned. I have completed all necessary formal training requirements including prescribed annual professional development to achieve registration via the Commonwealth Attorney General's Department.
