I like figuring out how things work.  Led me to become an avionics engineer, TV and video repair man.   I love learning so became an electrician and air con installer and along the way have data and phone licences too.  I can also smart wire homes, if you're interested.

Meeting different people and helping them achieve what they want, whether it be just installing a light, a media centre, air con, or rewiring a house.  Completing a job that a customer has been told can't be done also feels pretty good.

What questions should a customer ask to hire the right service professional?

Accepted Answer

Are you licensed to do the job I need?  Are you insured to do the job?  General questions about the job, if the persons sounds confident and are able to talk to you and answer you questions or offer alternatives - bonus.  A customer usually can go with their gut instinct.  You can also google companies to see if they are operating insolvent or for reviews

The job is . . . . . and another electrician or installer told us we can't do it this way . . . . . But we really would prefer to do it this way . . .  can you help?.  "Yes"  I'm not sure what I really want, but this is the general idea . . . . Do you think you could help?  "Yes"

What makes you the most reliable and trustworthy person for the job?

Because I turn up when I say I will and if I might be running late, I would always ring the customer to let them know.  I am happy to discuss cheaper alternatives if costing is a problem.  It's not good business to rip people off - if you only need an amp to get your TV working, I'd never say you need a new antenna and rewiring. I don't up sell

I have an excellent work ethic and commitment to providing you the customer with what you want, not what I think you need.   If you have questions and are not 100% sure what you want or need I'm happy to discuss and clarify your options.

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

I need to know what the job is?  If you are not sure say that when you call and we can discuss it.  For example if you tell me you want one light and a powerpoint, and I turn up and you want 4 lights and a phone line, I will probably not have the parts or time to finish and the quote will obviously not apply.  Location of the job? Is the customer providing the items or products?  Depending on the job - is there under building  or roof access?  What is the building constructed of and roof type?

How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips

If there is wiring to go in the ground dig the trench yourself - 600mm deep "it's the law".  Have a clear idea or discuss what you want clearly before work starts - changing your mind is OK, but may incur additional costs. By ensuring that if you purchase items/products, that they are quality and fit for purpose.  Manufacturer warranty applies.

What makes your pricing competitive?

I'm not sure that I always am.  I am more than happy to discuss with customers if they have a cheaper written quote.  I will not always be able or prepared to beat quotes. I only use quality parts and my workmanship speaks for itself.

How do you normally charge for your service?

Accepted Answer

By the job it depends what it is. Installing one or two lights are one price, but if there are more I charge less per light.  Air-conditioning depends in the unit and the distance between indoor and outdoor unit.

I specialise in problem solving with customs.  I would like to say I try to specialise in doing what customers want and leaving each customer happy and satisfied with the job completed.

What experience, skills, qualifications or training do you have to make you the right person for the job?

I am an Electrician with air-con licence.  I am also licensed to instal data and phone lines and am able to smart wire your home too.  My experience includes working for large industrial companies working commercial site, railway stations, schools.  IDS Electrical, has complete work for Foxtel, was involved in the government digital ready scheme installing antenna and satellite dishes in regional NSW, wired new homes including providing the lighting plan as well as completed renovations on commercial and private sites.
