Are you an insured business and do you guarantee your work?

I have insurance I use all new parts where I can and they all come with at least a 12months guarantee. I do also carry some 2nd hand parts which I discuss about using and that I can `t offer a guarantee on those I`ll always try my best to sort any problem out as I will never let a customer down it`s not in my nature to do so

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

My older brother worked in the industry and he`s 5 years older than me so watching him made me think. He travels all over the world. I enjoy working locally So I have my brother to thank for me working in computers

Do you have a favourite customer story you would like to share?

So many it`s very hard to choose from One of my very good friends (now) was having a play on his computer has he liked to do when he found something that would make his computer run faster. He thought why not (even though I`d not long since reinstalled his computer) and it did it`s thing and rebooted etc I got a phonecall from him asking me why he`d lost most of his programs I`d installed for him. I went round as I was puzzled as to why. He only gone and done a system restore but luckily kept his files. So all his Office, anti-virus and several other programs had all gone. We had such a laugh when we reallised Then I gave him my bill which read `stop playing and messing in the future` Touch wood all as been good for several months now hahahaha

What do you like most about your job?

Everything... Meeting so many different people from so many different parts of the world with so many stories to tell and I love to listen especially when sitting running some updates etc Working with computers is a life long dream for me so it`s great to get up and work every day as I work 7 days a week

Experience first and foremost So many say they can help and do it on the side I`m here to stay and have seen so many come and go Plus I have to pick up the pieces so many times from others poor work Price is not always the best thing to go I always find that a smile is a winner but hard to see that over the phone :D

The biggest question I get is HELP!! Which always makes me laugh I soon get to know what has caused the cry out for help Then before you know it I`m solving the problem and then showing what and how to prevent it from happening again

Hard for me to talk about myself but I know I am a very trustworthy person and I`m just getting a police certificate so I can offer my services to the aged care comunity

Why should a customer hire you over another service provider?

Because I go the extra yard to get things sorted as quickly as I can. But I won`t rush a job to get it finished. Quality of work comes first I love the interaction with customers while I`m working I also love a drink while I work :)

Computer, all in one or laptop? What windows your using? Does the computer start? Do you have important data on the computer? Any faults on screen or beeping going on?

How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips

Accepted Answer

Once you have your computer / laptop set up correctly with the right software and some great advice and tips from me your fine. So really it`s hard to say how to save money before you call me as once you`ve called me you`ll be saving money as your computer will be running so smoothly When updating or installing software always read each box carefully and untick anything that is not needed or you`ll end up with tool bars you don`t want!!

All my pricing and my work is special in my opinion It actually costs me money on Oneflare to give a quote so I`d have to say no Might sound wrong but if you charge a fair price for a fair job I think your doing good to your customers

What makes your pricing competitive?

I don`t actually know as I don`t know what others charge. I do get calls from people asking me for a quote and nothing more which might be my competition but that`s them not me. I believe $50 and $60 to be good pricing

How do you normally charge for your service?

I don`t like to quote an hourly rate as a lot of jobs I quote per job Like a full reinstallation of windows including a back up which can take 10 hours including all the updates and I charge around $140 for that so $14 an hour lol My rate an hour if you force me to answer is $50 an hour which I think is very fare if you bring to me and $60 if I come to you

Is there a particular aspect of your trade or industry that you specialise in?

Not really but I do really enjoy building computers especially gaming computers with water cooling and big graphics cards and SSD`s I probably build 2 computers a week sometime more I`ve just sold 3 computers and just built 2 more But I`m not complaining

I`ve been working with computers for so many years it hard to remember those early days of computers (if you could call them computers lol) It`s been over 25 years and I`ll be honest to say that I`m still learning now
