We have public liability insurance provided by CGU and take pride in what we provide to the customer is of the highest quality and standard. We are registered with Knox city council and maintain all health department requirements.

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

I have always been interested in food preparation and worked for Myers in the city and later on at Knox City in the restaurant and have also had a lot of experience in hospitals. Food is my passion.

Do you have a favourite customer story you would like to share?

I was once doing a wedding in the hills in a private residence in a marquee. The weather started to turn nasty and the heavens opened up. We were serving outside the marquee and had to make a quick alteration to how the guests would have their meal. We arranged for the food to go into the house and organized for the father of the bride sheltered each guest under his golf umbrella through the rain so that all could get their meal rain free.

What do you like most about your job?

I love the satisfaction it gives me when we see everybody eating with very little chatter and when they come back for seconds we know that the job has been successful. Also the comments that come to us after the meal.

Customers should ask the service professional that they are considering how long they have been in business and what they will be getting for the money that they are paying for.

Customers ask our advice on many issues. The hiring of a particular venue that we may recommend, the type of food that can be served especially if there is a menu that they would like that is out of the square that we advertise on the web site.

I have always treated my customers the way that I would like to be treated. I would hate to be let down and not skimped by the food and service that was provided.

The typical things that we require from a customer before we can quote on a job is the number of people that will be attending the function and where it is to be held. We also need to know if the client requires china plates etc. so that our costs can be calculated

Customers are able to discuss their requirements with us to plan a menu that is suitable to them and what would be the most cost effective measure to provide those requirements.

At Uptown Catering we believe that we have the most competitive prices around and can assure customers that we give them value for their money with our food and our service that is second to none.

How do you normally charge for your service?

We can offer our customers three methods of payment. We accept cheques and cash and also electronic funds transfer. We do not have credit card facilities. We would provide the customer with account details if they wish to pay by EFT.

At Uptown catering we pride ourselves in making all our own salads and most of the finger food that we serve is home made. We offer a large selection of desserts and we can tailor a menu to suit your needs.

I have had a background in the hospital industry which gave me a good background in infection control and also worked for Myer in the restaurant for eight years and also for another catering company before starting my own business 20 years ago.
