How did you decide to get into your line of work?

It was a very interesting Trade at the time and it offered me job security and an opportunity to learn a skill that allowed me to run my own business.  Very technical trade!

Do you have a favourite customer story you would like to share?

We had a lovely lady call us for help after her Solar Panel Inverter fail on them after almost 2 years (not supplied by us). She called around seeking advice and another company had quoted her almost $3000 to suppy and install a new Inverter and then she was recommended to give us a call.  Upon chatting to the customer we determined that her current Inverter was actually still 'under warranty' so we advised the customer to retrieve her paperwork and contact the manufacturer for a replacement.  Once the new Inverter reached the customer we visited them for a simple swap over of the new Inverter which resulted in the customer paying $140 plus GST.  This customer was 45 mins drive from our main office.

What do you like most about your job?

Being able to provide a great service to our customers and an affordable price when they have received previous quotes for double and sometimes triple the price.  They are always pleased with our service and that makes us feel great!

What questions should a customer ask to hire the right service professional?

You should also check that your service professional is fully Licenced and/or Accredited to do what you are paying them to do.  Also check their experience as they may advertise some glossy photo's but may not have actually completed that job themselves.  Check their experience or portfolio of jobs, speak to their previous customers and get a Quote or ask for their hourly rate before they start the work!

Is it worth getting Solar Panels? Answer:  Depends on your current electricity usage, if you are at home most days and whether you have a pool at your home.  There are many factors involved and your situation may be very different to that of your neighbour who already has Solar Panels and tells you they are saving $$$$$

We have a proven track record of reliability, efficiency and we charge fairly.  We are known to be one of the most cost-effective Electrical Contractors in Port Macquarie as we look at ways to save money for all our customers.

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

What do you need installed/repaired? Are you supplying a product? What is a suitable time to arrive? Will someone be home? Is there suitable access and pets removed?

How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips

Tip 1:  Know what you want and have everything ready by clearing work areas if possible and ensuring ease of access. Tip 2:  Lock up your pets - having your pet around our feet whilst we are completing your job not only creates an OH&S risk, but causes a distraction and wastes time trying to avoid the trip hazard (especially if you are paying an hourly rate!). Tip 3:  If you have supplied any materials (ie: Ceiling Fan or Light Fitting) take ownership of your purchase by double checking that all parts are actually in the box (to the best of your ability) as having to return for a 2nd visit to complete the job or track down any missing parts may cost you more money in the longrun.

What makes your pricing competitive?

We don't charge a call out fee on top of the time spent doing the job and our prices are either based on an hourly rate or we can provide a quote.  Our prices are kept low to ensure a high turnover of repeat customers.

How do you normally charge for your service?

We are Electrical Contractors and are also Accredited for Solar Panel installations, so we need to be able to quote either an hourly rate together with an estimated time frame to complete the job or if it's a Solar Panel System the quote is a fixed price.  Sometimes we come across scenarios where extra work is required due to electrical upgrades or unforeseen circumstances, however we always advise the customer before proceeding further and never put them in a situation where they feel pressured to go ahead.  We treat our customers how we would like to be treated - fairly and with respect.

Not only are we a reputable Electrical Contracting company we also hold Full Accreditation to Design and Install Grid Connected Photovoltaic Power systems (solar panels).  We have installed hundreds of systems locally on the Mid North Coast of NSW.

We hold over 22 years' experience and have installed hundreds of Solar Panel Systems in our local area since late 2010.  We are fully licensed (NSW Lic No: 236861C) and hold Accreditation with the Clean Energy Council for Design and Installation of Grid Connected Photovoltaic Power Systems (Solar Panels).
