Are you an insured business and do you guarantee your work?

Accepted Answer

I am fully insured with public liability for your peace of mind and mine. I do not guarantee gardening work and guarantees on landscaping will depend on the job as no one can help shifting of the ground, or weather or not someone will water their plants and that sort of thing. It's something that can be discussed at the quote stage.

What do you like most about your job?

I love been outdoors, experiencing the change of weather and the changes that has on a garden, and looking back at a freshly mowed and edged lawn knowing I did that.

What questions should a customer ask to hire the right service professional?

Accepted Answer

Do you take cheque or bank transfer? I never take a cheque from a first time customer or it has to clear before I do the job (I do from regular clients). Most of my regular clients use bank transfer as payment after I've done the job but first time customers will need to prepay with that option. I find that when trades people don't accept payments that will show up in their bank accounts, then something doesn't add up. Cash is always good but when you run a legitimate business any payment is a good payment.

The most common question on the phone before quoting is "how much will it cost". My answer is always the same: I don't know till I see it as I like to quote the job so that you know how much it will cost you without surprises at the end.

What makes you the most reliable and trustworthy person for the job?

Accepted Answer

I don't know that I am 'the most' reliable and trustworthy person for the job. All I can say is that I am reliable and trustworthy. Most of my regular clients have been with me since I started gardening in 2010 and they even allow me access to their premises even when they're not at home. My clients would be the judge of that.

I believe that you only get out what you put in. Because I am an independent gardener and rely on word of mouth for my advertising, I put 100% into my business and customer satisfaction is my main concern.

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

Accepted Answer

I just need to know what service you require (in case I don't provide it), where you are and what time and day suits you. The state of your garden is of no consequence at this point as I will get to see it when I come for your quote. And there's no need to apologise for it been overgrown, that's what I'm here for.

* When it comes to mowing, don't let it get out of control before you contact someone. If you know you won't be able to get it mowed when it's supposed to be, get me out there quick.  * When it comes to weeding, the same. Don't wait till all you can see is weeds. It's cheaper to have them sprayed once a month than to have them removed all in one go. * Basically, keep it maintained rather than wait for it to get out of hand with all your garden needs. Not only will it be cheaper but your place will look it's best at all times!

What makes your pricing competitive?

Because I'm not a franchise and I work from word of mouth I can afford to give my customers top quality results at a lower cost than others who have to pay fees and advertising.

How do you normally charge for your service?

Accepted Answer

I prefer to price the job rather than an hourly rate. This way I don't feel like I'm under pressure to work fast and I can get the job done right. Also because at times I need to answer the phone or have to take extra time if the equipment plays up, the customer doesn't have to worry about paying for time not spent working on their garden.

Is there a particular aspect of your trade or industry that you specialise in?

Edging and mowing. My edges are just right. I've picked up new work just on people wanting me to do their edges. And when it comes to mowing, anyone can cut grass but I like to mow lawn. Knowing what the different types of lawns require and cutting them at the right height depending on the season is what will give you lawn, not just grass. But hedging shapes comes a close second.

What experience, skills, qualifications or training do you have to make you the right person for the job?

I obtained a Certificate IV in Horticulture from Swinburne University. I am also a Work Safe service provider, fully insured and police checked. Not to mention I am reliable and on time. And if I'm not going to make it to your place I will call you or message you.
