Are you an insured business and do you guarantee your work?

I have professional indemnity insurance for both my law and conveyancing practice which covers the publice if there any professional mistakes as it is impossible to guarantee all legal or conveyancing work.

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

I like doing this type of work as it is a regular source of income and its all over within a month or two and people are generally very happy at the end. Nobody is argueing all the time as in many courts cases that I am involved in. It is more rewarding that court work to me.

What do you like most about your job?

The satisfaction of getting jobs done on time for satisfied buyer or seller clients and helping their banks with the banks requirements at all times and giving any extra advise that may be required.

What makes you the most reliable and trustworthy person for the job?

As I run my own business and do most of the work apart from secretarial work I know what is going on with all files and at what stage they are at any any one time.I am also used to fixing most usual problems so deals get settled on time. I would be out of business along time ago if I was not reliable and trustwortrhy...over 40 years so far.

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

If selling is it s private sale or auction...extra charges if its an auction.What sort of title is involved. If buying is it a normal title involved or stratum or share title? Maybe extra costs if not a normal title. If a bank is not involved e.g.cash purchase i can do the banks lodging of document work at the Stamps Office and Titles Office at an extra fee.

What makes your pricing competitive?

In a city of four million people it is imposssible to be the cheapest unless you want to work for nothing. I try to charge a fair renumeration for the work I do given my 40 years of experience and therefor I am not the cheapest or dearest.

How do you normally charge for your service?

Accepted Answer

Fixed Price including disbursements and GST. There may be extra charges if extra work is required above that normally involved in Conveyancing for example if there is no bank involved and I have to do the banks work.

Is there a particular aspect of your trade or industry that you specialise in?

I do all types of conveyancing and well as plans of subdivisions and lost titles and deceased estate titles. I can also give  legal advise if there are any conveyancing problems which sometimes occur.

What experience, skills, qualifications or training do you have to make you the right person for the job?

40 years experience in general legal practice in St.Kilda and surrounding areas specialising in conveyancing,leases and probate shows I must know what I am doing or I would not be in business all that time. I have degrees in law and Arts from Melbourne University.
