How did you decide to get into your line of work?

Through falling in love. Fan Design started as a result of Kane Bradshaw. Originally on the direction to become an architect, some serendipitous experiences landed him in Design & Marketing. Here he found a calling that allowed the exploration of the human experience within the business sphere. With personal interest in psychology, philosophy, communication, and business practice, he began to blend a unique methodology of aligning design thinking and practice with business objects and requirements.

Do you have a favourite customer story you would like to share?

Recently we where integral in helping the launch of Made Fine Sandwiches. We worked closely with the founder to bring the perceptions, ideas and concepts to life. By utilising design thinking we enables the customer to "think differently" about what they do and how we focus on client expectations and requirements right from the first line of the business plan. This ensured a holistic and unified approach through generating top level criteria through which to filter decision making process. This appointed an internal accountability then had it's outworking in menu choices, ingredients, finishes, suppliers, staffing, signage, design, social / advertising and promotional strategy.

We require a small brief covering at least the following: 1. What is the project, and how does it fit within your business goals. 2. What do you hope to achieve from this and are the goals measurable 3. What are your expectations from the working relationship.

How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips

1. Be prepared. (Customer Profile, Hurt Points, Business Objectives) You may not have visual literacy, but the reason you do what you do is because you know your market better than we do. By bringing an articulated version of the points above you will stand head and shoulders above others as you are able to clearly create understanding about what they want, what you do, and how you fulfil those wants/needs with your products.  2. Start with Why! Watch a Video called "Start with Why", by Simon Sinek. It will help you understand the nature of motivation and communication. This gives a platform you can better understand how design thinking works for you. 3. Know your budget. (Turn Over / Hurt Point) Marketing and communication is about consistency, the industry average business runs between 2-5% of turnover. This is not a startup cost.  For startup, the percentage figure will be unrealistic. We need to find a figure that can work for you. We've found by asking the following question, "If I said $5000 for a logo and website does that seem like a lot". You will soon realise there is a point you expected if not articulated. As with anything you get what you pay for. So if you can't afford the best, don't expect the best.
