Are you an insured business and do you guarantee your work?

Accepted Answer

I have current public liability insurance cover and all of my work is fully guaranteed. Materials will have a manufacturers guarantee.

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

As I have developed a range of skills, I dicided to transition from the mundane task of fixing plasterboard every day, to expanding into general maintenance work.

My main aim is to please the customer. I try to advise if I feel sometbing just will not work. Like a blue ceiling, doors & trims, with purple walls. She liked it, the husband was horrified.

Satisfied clients who often say that the completed job is better than they expected, once they see the end result. Ensuring the work area is left clean, gets positive results.

Ask if they can see evidence of previously completed jobs. Ask for a contact number from previous cusomer. Expect to only get a happy customer. Ask to see applicable licence, or letter of competency - electrical, plumbing

During my extensive career, I have worked in schools, refuges, medical & dental centres, banks, small to large businesses and private homes. Having often been issued with keys and/or alarm codes, to complete work after hours, or during the day, while owners are at work.

Why should a customer hire you over another service provider?

I have many years of experience and believe in doing everything right the first time. When clients have seen my work progressing, they often ask me to do other work to complete the whole job. eg. Starting off with plastering, then sand & paint, tiling, carpentry, replace damaged fly screens and more. Using one person to complete multiple tasks, is more cost effective than engaging various trades people, to do the same jobs. They also prefer to use someone they already know and trust.

To work out a fair quote for painting - room size and ceiling height - the preparation needed prior to painting. To repair holes in walls, or cracks in ceilings, the extent of damage - photo helps. To replace broken tiles - how many and tile size - include photo

Ensure that there is clear access to the work area. Offer assistance if lifting is involved - saves paying a second worker. Pre purchase required materials to save time at stores.

What makes your pricing competitive?

Accepted Answer

I will do a good job at a fair price, as I have good skills and the right tools to work efficiently. Most of my longstanding clients no longer ask for quotes, they trust me to invoice on completion. Cheap I won't do, as that means the end result will not be acceptable - to me, or the customer.

How do you normally charge for your service?

Accepted Answer

I estimate how many hours, or days a job will take to complete. Add the cost of materials to that amount and arrive at the total cost from there. Pick up and delivery of materials may also be included in the quote, especially if materials are delivered by a third party.

Is there a particular aspect of your trade or industry that you specialise in?

Painting and plasterboard repairs. Having extensive experience in plasterboard fixing, I do a lot of repairs, from small holes in walls to rebuilding sections of walls which may have been termite infected. I also have several years of domestic and commercial painting experience.

What experience, skills, qualifications or training do you have to make you the right person for the job?

I have many years of experience of experience behind me. In the plastering trade for 30 years - new homes and commercial work - all types of repairs. Painting - license obtained in 1990. Fully trained and licensed to Inspect, Test and Tag portable electrical equipment - single and 3 phase. Can rewire damaged cables to equipment, or fit replacement plugs and sockets, where practicable.
