Dog Club

When I was 18 years old and very impressionable. The cool accessory at the time was to have a Red Nose Pit Bull Terrier, so I went and got one. I had done no knowledge into how to raise a dog, let alone a game bread Pit Bull. I brought him up wrong and treated him like a human, didn’t fulfil his needs as an animal dog first and Pit Bull second. Caesar was an awesome dog with just me but tried to kill every animal he could and was super protective around other humans. So, thinking with my human brain a puppy would be a great solution. I mean a puppy can melt the coldest of hearts. WRONG!! because of my ignorance and the dog being so out of control, I ended up putting him down. I didn’t want to even give him away because I felt I couldn’t burden anyone else with this crazy dog. RIP Boy. From that painful experience in 2010 I decided I would never have another dog that had any behavioural issues. I studied all I could on dog behaviour and raised two German Shepherd pups. Attia and Jaeger. I chose the GSD (German Shepherd Dog) because of my German heritage and my Opa (grandpa) who also had a passion for dogs, always would tell me stories of Arko, his shutzhund trained GSD. So, I went with the breed. I got Attia because I thought if Caesar was around a puppy, he would learn to love animals. It was his attack of Attia at 8 weeks old that was the final straw for me, but still very much all my fault. So out of fear that Attia would now have an issue with animals I got her a friend (Jaeger) the two of them were inseparable and would do what I called synchronised sleeping (mirroring each other perfectly). Raising these two dogs made me fall in love with the breed as I saw how balanced they were and could either turn on in guard training or be so calm and submissive around my son, nieces and nephew. Jaeger died in 2014 from a tumour in his gut he was 4. We had no idea he was ill until the day we had to say goodbye. Attia left us just a couple months ago in April after 10yrs at my side. We also have a British Bulldog Baci (Bachi) like the Italian chocolates. My wife wanted one, so we got her in 2013. She is now 6 and what I call a cat/dog. Cat mentality in a dog body. She is happy if she is fed, has a bed to sleep on and goes for a walk to the dog park at the end of our street a couple times a week. The K9 Relationship Coach Through my ignorant ways of raising Caesar to my structured ways with the Shepherds and Bulldog, I saw how easy it really can be for pet owners to educate themselves on having the best relationship they can with their dogs and how completely clueless we humans are with inter-species relations. My mission Is to coach people to embody the qualities of a pack leader to enrich their relationships with K9s. I am currently undertaking the Cert 3 in dog training and behaviour with the NDTF the only nationally recognised course in Australia. I will be completed mid year.
