D.J.L Plaster is a 100% qualified, 100% Insured and 100% commited to deliver a high standard of work. In the 5 years i have been running the business i have been called back to 3 jobs to rectify work. i guarantee my work by the guide lines set out by CSR Gyprock and then some.

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

I left school towards the end of year nine and started my apprenticeship after a 3 month trial. My grandfather was a Solid Plasterer and i enjoyed watching him work sometimes i figured id give it a go

D.J.L Plaster is (compared to some) a fresh business eager to prove its worth amomgst the more experienced companies in the area. I myself, have worked with a number of well respected plasterers in the area and learned from who i believe the best. I have a crew at hand who also have had similar experiences in their training which makes it so much easier for us to work together.

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

to get a presise quote to a customer i need to know when they would need it completed by, the job in question, other tradesman onsite, and in most cases i will need to measure up.

a customer can save money by making the work area appealing, as opossed to a dirty work area. i feel work gets done faster and with better care when the tradesman does not have to climb over things. aswell as being a safety hazard in some cases a cleared out room is always prefered and we are ore than willing to help in moving furniture where needed

i offer the lowest prices i can. everybody has to make money. during my time i have noticed that my hourly rate while sub contracting, is slightly lower than others my age doing the same job.

How do you normally charge for your service?

Prefering to do business as smoothly as possible, i prefer to hand out an onvoice for materials plus 10% and a figure summed up of estimated hours needed and number of employees estimated for the job plus 10%tax however for the smaller jobs such as a crack or a door knob sized hole cash works great

particularly suspended ceilings and metal stud walls as i over obsess with levels and straight angles. although trowelling, hanging and cornicing are also skills i pride myself in

currently i, the owner of D.J.L Plaster hold a :                                                                       cert 3 in general construction.                                                                       White safety induction card                                                                       Red card                                                                       Working with children check (commercial us)                                                                       and i wide variety of tickets collected over my time. having started plastering at the age of 15 and continuing through to the age of 23 with a 1 year gap, i have alot of experience in all areas of the trade.
