It was a total pleasure. You were both so lovely and the smiles that you had when you look in the mirror are the reason I do makeup. xoxox
Frequently asked questions
Are you an insured business and do you guarantee your work?
Yes and yes. I have only had one instance 10 years ago, where a bride changed her mind about airbrush makeup vs regular foundation so we started fresh. If a client is not 100% happy I will redo the work if needed. Some people have an idea of what they want and an image or images, so happy to get an email or Pinterest board as inspiration. Others just want me to 'do my thing' so I ask for a photo and come up with a look before the day. I might even do a face chart to remind myself. Being a former illustrator and designer gives me a unique ability to combine colours and application techniques and being a blogger and now moving into video (still learning) tutorials and product reviews, means I am always up to date with techniques, products and trends. I do great brows, contour and highlight beautifully to make the most of your face shape and features, and can do natural looking makeup as well as more dramatic looks. Basically my love of makeup and wanting to make people look and feel their most beautiful. I remember that feeling from my wedding day when I looked in the mirror and thought this is me at the most beautiful I will ever be. I felt special and radiant, and that shows. That's what I love. Women of all ages are beautiful to me. I prefer doing makeup on real women (I've done grooming on men for photo shoots, but my expertise is with women as clients). I love seeing a woman's face when she first sees the makeover and the big smile that follows. Women after 50 often don't get their makeup done, I have found in my forties I feel less visible as a woman than I was in my 20's. Sometimes that is good, as I don't have unwelcome attention, but part of me feels as if my beauty is done. But...add some makeup and I feel, as do other women like I am radiant and beautiful again. Of course I love making over stunning women, but I also truly value making up women over 50 is particularly special, because I can make them feel 'seen' again. Women of all ages are beautiful but it changes. I think the secret to a personal makeup artist is knowing what works for different ages and skin type. I am also dedicated to being inclusive of all cultures, skin tones and beliefs. I have worked with the darkest of skins, done dramatic makeup for middle eastern bridal parties, I have made over the worlds palest skin (apart from myself). I love variety and embrace differences and love that makeup affords me to meet and get to know women from a variety of backgrounds. Please feel free to ask me anything regarding your makeover, I also do lessons and makeup collection makeover and help you get the best products for the looks you want to create that will fit in with your lifestyle. If it is about makeup, products, application, techniques, events and colour, I am the most passionate person you'll meet.
How did you decide to get into your line of work?
I was working a graphic designer and art director and feel in love with makeup while art directing makeup shoots. It was really just a side step. Having a photographer husband helped because we sometimes work together. I also just really love makeup and its transformative qualities.
