Are you an insured business and do you guarantee your work?

1 Byte is fully insured for their services as we are expanding at a rapid rate.  The products we supply in repairs are covered by their own manufacturers warranty and all documentation for these products are given to the customer also.

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

Since the age of 10 when I took apart my first video console 'pong" and couldn’t put it back together.  I have always been a Tech Person and working in engineering since 17 gives you an engineering mind in many ways in life to think outside the square.

Do you have a favourite customer story you would like to share?

1 Byte has a regular customer who is a retired Judge at 80, he often needs advice, which he gets for free!  On other occasions he may need more memory or a new Solid State Drive or software; we have other customers with similar needs, it's good to be of service.

What do you like most about your job?

I like to help people with their Technology troubles and see a smile on their faces.  The job itself is a passion for anything Technology related.  If we can help others who are not good at the ever growing technology based lifestyles that we are part of now, we can then make a difference for those customers who need that little bit of extra help.

Why should I hire you over another service provider?  What experience, skills, qualifications or training do you have to make you the right person for the job?  How do you normally charge for your service?  Do work full time also and what do you do?

Q: How did I get Malware or a virus, I didn't go on inappropriate sites?  A: I say downloading music, movies, games or software from unfamiliar sites or accepting emails from friends who are also oblivious to an infected email is common!  Q: My computer runs slow! A: Many things, virus, malware, fragmenting, software issues, old computer, 10% space on hard drive.

The owner of 1 Byte - Computer service and repairs who had worked as an engineer in the manufacturing industry, has always been a specialist in different fields.  Attention to detail, punctuation, time management and Trustworthiness has always been part of my persona, continuing this for 1 Byte's customers is no different!

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

Accepted Answer

Every business has to give its customers prices for its products or services. There are several ways you can do this.  Many businesses, such as hairdressers, use a standardised price list that remains the same for every customer.   Other businesses, such as painters and decorators, have to provide tailored prices for the specific products or services a customer wants to buy.   This is usually done with an estimate or a quotation.   Larger, more complicated projects are often priced on the basis of a detailed tender document drawn up by the customer.

Dust free areas and ventilation is important to keep PC dust and static from building up.  Keep all cords neat and UN plug from wall when not in use, better insurance than a surge protector and save standby power too!  Always back up data to an external drive and place it in a fire proof container for safe keeping.

This includes a monthly 1.5 hr PC junk clean and speed up, including Malware or Virus removal if needed for 12 months to keep you PC running smoothly all year round.

What makes your pricing competitive?

1 Byte knows what the "average" pricing for computer services are, but a lot of suppliers charge too much and there are some that charge below even 1 Byte's, you get what you pay for!  1 Byte's rate is fair; we show prospective customers that you don't have to pay exuberant fees to get quality service.

How do you normally charge for your service?

We are an upfront Business and there are no hidden surprises.  1 Byte charges by the hour,  then in 15 min increments.  We will tell the customer our opinion if upgrading, repairs or replacement parts are needed, this give the customer the choices to make from the start.

Is there a particular aspect of your trade or industry that you specialise in?

1 Byte loves nothing more than repairing computers, building computers for CAD, Gaming, Media or other customer requirements.  We also attempt remove nasty Malware and Viruses, otherwise a windows reinstall is then sometimes required, we replace laptop screens and address most computer related issues.

1 Byte has the right staff who have over 15 years’ experience hands on, also backed up relevant Computer and Electronic Gadget qualifications over the years.  We never stop learning and we are comfortable repairing or just setting up Technology products for our Customers when needs arise.
