Are you an insured business and do you guarantee your work?

Accepted Answer

Yes. I have Public Liability Insurance through my membership of the Australian Federation of Civil Celebrants. This protects you and your guests.

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

I love people and meeting couples for their wedding - or even celebrating someone's life at a funeral - is very special indeed. People matter, no matter who they are, or where they live.

Do you have a favourite customer story you would like to share?

Accepted Answer

I have many favourite customer stories I can tell.  All of them I think.  The Medieval Wedding in Gembrook where one of the bridesmaids was a guy in a tutu was fun!  As was the Tough Mudder wedding that featured in the Sunday Herald Sun. Oh the Bride's muddy dress!

What do you like most about your job?

I love meeting couples at such an exciting time.  It really encourages me about the world in which we live where there is often so much sadness and grief. Love gives me hope!

What questions should a customer ask to hire the right service professional?

Accepted Answer

The most important question to ask a celebrant strangely doesn't relate to price. Ask about weddings performed and satisfaction of couples. Ask whether the celebrant is comfortable with your style of wedding.

What questions do customers commonly ask and how would you answer them?

What are the legal processes involved in getting married? I answer that by providing the Notice of Intended Marriage form to a celebrant you comply with the law provided it is one month and one day prior to the wedding. The Celebrant after the wedding submits all required paperwork for you.

What makes you the most reliable and trustworthy person for the job?

I do over 50 weddings a year.  Couples are generally thrilled with the work that I do and we often become friends on Facebook afterwards which I count as an indication of their satisfaction.

Why should a customer hire you over another service provider?

Accepted Answer

I give personalised service.  Get to know you both and try to make the day especially yours. It's about you two, not the celebrant or anyone else.  I am an actor so I'm used to public speaking and can do readings for you in the way you wish, if required, and work hard to keep you relaxed and happy.

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

When is your wedding? What type of ceremony are you looking for - formal, relaxed, humourous, crazy or themed? I have done them all!

How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips

Accepted Answer

Consider packaging Celebrancy services with Disc jockey and/or Master of Ceremony for your reception. Package price is more competitive than booking different people.

Are there any special offers you would like to offer to Oneflare customers?

Depending on locality I will celebrate your wedding and MC the reception for $950 ($1400+ value). This includes music too.

What makes your pricing competitive?

Accepted Answer

When many celebrants charge $700+ for a ceremony, my costs start at $450.  That is a budget price and doesn't include a rehearsal should you want one and is limited to distance.  Generally my weddings will range between $500 and $600 - we settle on the price at our first meeting.

How do you normally charge for your service?

I ask for a deposit between $50 and $100 once you decide I'm your celebrant.  This means I lock in time for you on the day. Payment can be in cash, or bank transfer.  Balance is due the week of the wedding or even on the day if you wish..

Is there a particular aspect of your trade or industry that you specialise in?

Weddings, Commitment, Naming, and Renewal of Vow Ceremonies are a specialty.  I'm also a funeral celebrant.  I guess Love and Life Celebrant says it all.

What experience, skills, qualifications or training do you have to make you the right person for the job?

Accepted Answer

A people person, I have many years experience working with people. Have worked as CEO of an overseas aid organisation involved in projects amongst the poorest people and their children, and worked in senior roles in fundraising with organisations like the Red Cross and Guide Dogs Victoria.
