How did you decide to get into your line of work?

I was made redundant at the beginning of the financial downturn and wanted to work for myself.  As a dog owner (and lover) I decided dog grooming would be a great opportunity for me!

What do you like most about your job?

Accepted Answer

I like dealing with both people and dogs!  Particularly dogs, as I lost my own Dog; Sydney this year and so I cherish the opportunity to be able to work with dogs (particularly those dogs who I call "regulars").

Accepted Answer

Whether the service professional is trained, what the service will cost and the availability/date in which the service can be carried out.  What the services includes IS A MUST!

What makes you the most reliable and trustworthy person for the job?

I am on-time and reliable once I have accepted a grooming appointment.  I have been salon trained and have 5 years grooming experience.  I am confident with dealing with dogs of all sizes and temperaments.

Why should a customer hire you over another service provider?

Accepted Answer

I completed (2) grooming courses prior to commencing my mobile business.  Well practiced in grooming and bathing of all types of dogs, with over (4) years of experience.  Reliable and on-time, providing a good value service.  Owners always consulted regarding their mobile grooming requirements.

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

I need to know the owner's address and availability.  The dogs approximate weight/size and breed, together with the owner's grooming requirements i.e. wash or clipping service.

How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips

Accepted Answer

Have their dog groomed on a regular basis by the owner.  Brushing and/or combing, bathing etc.  This alleviates the dogs fur from matting, thus denying perhaps the owners choice of "Hair Cut"

What makes your pricing competitive?

Accepted Answer

I always keep up to date about pricing within my area offered by other Dog groomers, salon and mobile.  Accordingly I price my services competitively within the industry.

How do you normally charge for your service?

Accepted Answer

I charge per size and breed of dog; for both washing and clipping services.  Washing (includes blow dry and cologne, nail clipping as required) Small dogs $40, medium dogs from $40 (depending on fur length), Large dogs from $50 (depending on fur length)  Clipping from $70-75 small dogs, $80-90 medium, $95-120 large

Is there a particular aspect of your trade or industry that you specialise in?

Accepted Answer

I specialise in breed clipping of dogs up to the weight of (20 kilos only).  Breed specialties include West Highland Terriers, Cairn Terriers and Schnauzers.  Pet clipping specialties include Maltese, Maltese X, Spoodles, Snoodles and Labradoodles

What experience, skills, qualifications or training do you have to make you the right person for the job?

I have undertaken (2) professional grooming courses prior to commencing business in the dog grooming field.  I have over (4) years experience and am very fond of dogs of all breeds.
