Cornelis Wegman

cornelis wegman architects is a Hobart based practice undertaking a full range of professional architectural services. Its principal, Cornelis (Kees) Wegman BArch Hons, AWAIT is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Architects and was a director of a medium sized practice for 18 years. In that role he undertook many major commercial interiors, including floors and tenancies within the AMP building, the Hobart Council Centre (ground and first floors) and fit-outs of other commercial interiors. His current practice was established in 1998, and focusses on residential and commercial design and alterations. We design new houses and buildings, and particularly enjoy making existing houses and buildings better – sometimes by small changes, at other times by large ones. We invite clients to share their vision – we can help to make it real. MAKING IDEAS REAL Making ideas real is what we do. Clients often start with great ideas but don’t always know how to make them happen. Most have strict budgets but need help to make it go further. This is what we enjoy — taking your ideas, requirements and budget, and shaping them into something vibrant, interesting and effective. We endeavour to create places that people want to be in. We invite clients to discuss their initial requirements to develop a ‘brief’ and determine budget options. This may occur before any formal design takes place and helps to produce a checklist of wants and needs. VISUALISATION To help visualise the final result, we use CAD to present our schemes in 3D. Perspectives, walk-throughs, photographic representation — just ask and we can deliver. Of course, we also prepare traditional drawings for councils and builders — we do want your ideas approved and built!
