Are you an insured business and do you guarantee your work?

Accepted Answer

No insurance as volume of work does not warrant excessive rates. However, I do guarantee work done and ensure that each computer system has a full disk image prior to undertaking any work, so that system can be, if needed, restored to prior condition.

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

Having always had an interest in most things technical I built my first computer system in the 'olden days', using cassette tapes to store and load programs, graduating to CP/M based operating systems, and forward and upward from there.

A customer called me to come to their shop straight away, as their computer has suddenly stopped working. I arrived and did all the initial simple checks, power cables plugged in etc, but it transpired that the fuse had blown on that particular circuit. One fuse replaced, all was well in under less than 10 minutes, and I didn't charge them, but did accept coffee and biscuits.

Providing a solution where none seems evident to the client, but more importantly I try and impart knowledge to clients so that the same problem or issue may be resolved by them.
