I decided to enter into this line of work through becoming qualified in the early years & following the path through different industries leading to a contracting life.

The customer should assess the task & make sure that the service professional is suitable for the work. The client should be clear that welding alone may not give the desired result.

Most clients are unfamiliar with welding & the procedures involved. Sometimes the client will require us to come up with a solution for their problem. We will oblige.

I have worked in the industry for 35 years, working on major projects, which require a high standard of work. We have carried out projects for building sites that require architectural finishes of a high quality & on time. We do have call backs.

35 years experience in the steel industry, from larger scale building projects, general steel/metal fabrication, and, smaller domestic projects. I am reliable, contactable and have all my own tools, and am registered.

Generally a site visit is necessary. Any sketches, site dimensions or drawings, if necessary, will be established. Obviously, a full discussion of the clients needs.

1. Try to assess the scope of work accurately, particularly if there are drawings available. 2. Sometimes materials can be purchased by the client. 3. Get the work area tidy & ready to operate.

Special offers would be dependant on the circumstances of the work. eg elderly, or infirmed, but generally the work would be quoted as normal.

I would always view & quote the work accordingly. Discuss the job with the client firstly & make clear the scope of work. Give a written quotation if necessary.

I would prefer to give a fixed quotation, but some work may require hourly rate, depending on the nature of difficulty.

Is there a particular aspect of your trade or industry that you specialise in?

I try not to specialise. Structural steel & general welding & fabrication is the main area, however, maintenance of equipment & repairs are also welcome.

I have a trade certificate with 35 years experience in the building & chemical industries. I have been  physically involved in my work at the trade level & at supervisory level. I also have skills in drafting.
