Are you an insured business and do you guarantee your work?

Accepted Answer

Yes I am insured and have Public Liability Insurance. I guarantee the quality of my work and offer full replacement of any product that doesn't live up to standard and will also re shoot if for some reason you were not fully satisfied with the experience and result. I take great pride in my work and want you to be completely happy.

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

Like many other photographers, I became most interested in photography as a career when my son was born. What keeps me interested though, is a desire to grow into not only someone who captures moments and authentic expression, but the idea of becoming a leader in the future of photography in an industry that is changing so much every day!

Do you have a favourite customer story you would like to share?

My favourite shoots are those where we do something different and special. For one family we spent the afternoon wandering the park, reminiscing and connecting. We came to a beautiful old tree. The family decided to sit on the branch and were having such a fun time mucking around, the branch broke and they all ended up on the ground. It was hilarious!

What questions should a customer ask to hire the right service professional?

Accepted Answer

You need to know what you are after. Really think about it. Do you just want a photo that Uncle Bob can take? If so get him to take it. Or do you value photography as art. For the insight the photographer can bring. You need to look for experience and attitude and of course the style you are after. Choose a photographer that will create something in a style you like. But you should ask what can you offer me, how are you different, and what exactly will the results be?

What should we wear: think of palette. Like a painter we are creating an art piece and you are the paint! Coordinate, don't clash, but don't match too much either! More detail is covered in our planning session!  Do you provide the digital negatives: yes I do. If you purchase artwork, print res digital images are available for $550. Otherwise they are $55ea file.

The best way to get value for money with Novel is to take advantage of the planning session over the phone. This is where we discuss your vision for the artwork and decide what to create for which rooms in the house. Knowing exactly what you are after will not only ensure the shoot runs well, but also that you know exactly what you will be investing. If more than one wall art piece is purchased I can make up a specific package for you which will save you even more money.

What makes your pricing competitive?

Whilst I may not compete with a less experienced photographer, my prices certainly represent great value for money within the professional photographic industry. I source the highest quality products and give my loyal customers lots of value for money. Photographic art of your loved ones is an investment and with my prices I try to keep this investment as reasonable as possible, whilst still offering high expertise, service and quality.

How do you normally charge for your service?

My session fee is $150, or for events $150p/hr. Artwork ranges from $65 for matted prints, to $450-$750 for large finished artworks. Each product can be purchased individually and payment plans are available. Most customers spend anywhere from $450-$1500.

Is there a particular aspect of your trade or industry that you specialise in?

I specialise in kids and family portraiture but am interested in expanding into more weddings. I have won awards in the ACT AIPP Awards in both the family and Wedding Categories. I also cover a limited number of births each year.
