Job Type: Local Removalist
Location: Chatswood, NSW
I was told by Kate from Budget Aussie Movers that they charge $120 per hour and my job will take 2 hours (please check records of messages to verify this) as I did not have any bed or sofa or fridge or any such furniture. I confirmed and paid them $100 advance as they asked for it. Then on the day of the removal job, somebody called Steve called and said the removalist driver has already visited my premises and says there is a fair bit of walk. So they asked me that I should pay $350 instead. I asked my building manager and was informed there is a loading dock right in front of the lift lobby so no question of walking for the removalist. In addition to thar I brought the heavier items downstairs myself and placed them at the loading dock. Then I called budget aussie movers again and mentioned that there is no need for walking and they should stick to their original quote of $120×2 hours. Now the person Steve had another excuse. He said that the minimum hours of work is 3 and the minimum pay is $350. Essentially they were hell bent to extract $350 by hook or by crook. And knowing very well that I could not find an option in such a short notice, they exploited the situation and took $350 instead of the quoted $240. Moreover, my job actually took 1.5 hours only.
