I am passionate about design, the built environment and it's place in nature. I enjoy the satisfaction of seeing a job come to fruition knowing I had a hand in making those clients happy and improving their lives in a small way.

I provide personal service, as opposed to a 'battery hen' style design office, with the emphasis on providing my clients with designs as true to the design brief (their wishes) as possible.

I will need to know the extent of my involvement in the project, am I just a drafting service or will my design skills be required as well? Can the work be adequately performed remotely or do I have to be on-site? Will I be required to liaise with other consultants or authorities?

Customers can save money by providing as much information as possible prior to my quotation being issued. Information such as site details, local authority requirements and legislation, geotechnical test results, wind load criteria and preferred building materials etc.

My pricing is competitive with accepted inductry charge out rates for these services in Queensland, Australia.

How do you normally charge for your service?

Accepted Answer

I generally charge an hourly rate for my services: Building Design $135/hr, General Drafting $110/hr, Structural Engineering Drafting $45/hr (contract rate), Sustainability Assessments $110/hr and Steelwork Detailing $500/tonne depending on complexity. I require a 25% deposit prior to starting, a 25% progress payment and final payment on receipt of finished drawings.

I am experienced in Building Design (17 years), Sustainable Design (7 years), Structural Engineering Drafting (32 years) and Steelwork Detailing (37years). My experience in these fields gives me the edge.
