  The job was outsourced to another company. The removalists arrived an hour early on the day. I had gone out to organise a few things and was not home as I was not expecting anyone. The removalists were very unprofessional. They were smoking and standing around chatting in between runs up to the unit to grab items. What annoyed me the most was how disrespectful they were when moving furniture. One piece in particular which was a wood tv cabinet was dragged on its top along the ground with nothing underneath causing damage. When I got to my storage garage after they had left, it was packed disgustingly. Boxes were clearly thrown and were not stacked properly. The tv cabinet which is around 2 meters long is standing on one of the ends (not on its feet) It’s so bad you can’t even enter the storage garage. Whilst Steve was very helpful and the quote was reasonable. It was not a good first experience using removalists.

  Hi Laura, unfortunately due to illness I had a contractor do your job. We've never had a problem with them before but after your feedback I won't be using them again. I'd like to offer you a substantial discount the next time you move and of course a different crew. Steve

  Firstly, Are You Moving subbed the job out to another company (without me knowing before they arrived at the door). I can't really say anything bad about the guys who came to do the move on the day, they were a little rough around the edges, but pleasant and did an OK job. Unfortunately, my two month old $2000 TV was damaged in the move. I tried to claim it from Are You Moving, but he suggested that I claim from the subbed company. It turned out that company did not have insurance, so I went back to Are You Moving, who took no responsibility for it what so ever, and even suggested that I might be able to claim it back from the manufacturers warranty!! I guess my message is "if you have anything of value, think twice", and pay a bit extra, it will be worth it in the end if something goes wrong.

  Wayne, After reviewing the 15 emails that have passed between us over this matter, I feel that your facts are not quite accurate in what actually happened. The issue was never about insurance, you even offered to go through your insurance company or pay half of the excess of ours - $400. The problem occurred when, after sending you documentation of this, the damage to your TV was not consistent with the handling of it on the day of the move. It was not dropped or hit by anyone or anything, that you can attest to as you watched the guys from first handling into the truck to delivery. Furthermore your complaint came 2 days after the job was complete and the photos you supplied to us of the TV were tagged to be a different address from where we delivered. I resent the inference that Are You Moving did not take responsibility, it is untrue that there was no insurance (we have to have it with the government jobs we are contracted to) and the suggestion to claim on manufacturer’s warranty came from the 3 professional repairers that viewed the photos as there was nothing else to do. I appreciate any kind of feedback as I believe it helps us build a better business, though for this to happen and not be malicious it must be factual. Steve

Unfortunately I had a personal emergency that morning and was uncontactable to the men which made the coordination of another truck difficult and caused this delay. I would like to offer you a substantial reduction in price to you or your sons if you choose to go with us for your next move. Apologies once again Steve
