How did you decide to get into your line of work?

I love my work and always have, Now I am an artist and love painting but love my construction work. It is as  if it is just part of me. Doing the decking and the gates is a bit of a progression to doing it a bit easier and having a bit more spare time for doing my art.

What do you like most about your job?

Accepted Answer

I think its just about the people that like my service and that we can come to a great outcome and a job well done . It's not that we are friends but I like to think that we are friends when I have finished my job.

What makes you the most reliable and trustworthy person for the job?

Accepted Answer

When I start a job I don't like starting an other job . I like to finish what I have started before getting started on a new job. This makes it sometimes that I can't turn up on the planned date. My endeavor is to be there on the date planned.I will endeavor to keep you informed. I try not to take on to much work at the same time  as I am nearing retirement If you need some  resent  references I am happy to provide you some.

Why should a customer hire you over another service provider?

I think most of the time that a job is not about the money Its about the person that want a job done I will always try to do the job with you in my mind. And don't like to start a job until I have a good understanding of what you need and how you would like to have it done.

How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips

Accepted Answer

Have good Idea of what you want, get good advice " Good advice is cheap" Ask where you can save, etc access, clean up the jobsite Cheap is not always the best, Make sure you understand what your contractor is going to do and when. Try to get jobs done in the right order (for example don't start painting when there is a lot of dust around.)

I think for what I do and the service I give I charge a fair price. I don't pride myself to be the cheapest, As  I think that I need a fair  return for my effort. To me its about doing a good job at a fair price. what is that saying again " the pain of paying for a good job is only once the price of a cheap job is felt for a long time after "

How do you normally charge for your service?

Minimum cost  1st hour $ 120.00 than $ 65.00 there after  max $ 400.00 (day rate $ 400.00) but normally I would give a quote

Is there a particular aspect of your trade or industry that you specialise in?

Lately I like to build and install gates and build decks. I think I am a very good designer and like to make use of that quality with in my work. This is the main reason I like to concentrate on gates and decks.

What experience, skills, qualifications or training do you have to make you the right person for the job?

I have over 40 years of experience in the building industry and am a 3rd generation in the building industry. My first training was in my grand fathers workshop and was trained first as a cabinetmaker, later in interior design and product design . After migration to Australia from the Netherlands I had my own Joinery shop for more than 25 years in the mid North Coast. Where I specialized in building kitchens and small renovations. When arriving in the Sydney basin I have worked as a contractor for the installation guttering , later to install balustrades and glass pool fencing. Before I started as an independent business operator under the All Day Fencing brand.Now I undertake all kind of fencing jobs , automatic gates, wrought Iron, steel, stainless steel, aluminum, timber etc. Build pergolas and decking etc.
